Today I hung out with a friend, we went to Red Lobster and then went and saw the Hunger Games. I look absolutely stoned, my eyes are still bloodshot from crying. Thankfully, my makeup didn't run.
Anyway, we're at Red Lobster and I'm with my friend, who is a size 2 or something, and the waitress turns to her and goes, "You're so beautiful!" My friend says thank you and the waitress walks away.
...Yeah, no, that's okay. It's totally cool to tell someone they're beautiful and ignore their friend.
I don't need the approval of some waitress, but I was feeling pretty good about myself until that moment. Made me wonder why I didn't get the courtesy of a compliment as well, even if it wasn't about my appearance. A compliment about a material object I had on or with me would have been just as well.
I have to admit, I was feeling pretty until that happened.
She still got over-tipped, I'm sure she didn't mean to make me feel invisible or like some leper.
