In honor of the announcement of Robert Pattinson (Cedric Diggory in the HP movies) being cast as Edward in the Twilight movie that will start filming in February, I am going to go ahead and post my

So glad you enjoyed it! It was a fun story to write and I've gotten a lot of nice compliments on it. I always appreciate people who take time to review, so thank you for reading and telling me you liked it.
I recognize your name from RTW -- didn't know you read Twilight! I don't write too much Twilight fanfiction because I don't think there are that many decent "plot options" available to fanfic writers and I refuse to write a "Bella is pregnant with vampire/alien babies" story! I have written a few Twilight stories, but right now I'm concentrating on Harry Dresden and having a ball with that.
As a side note, I am a real idiot when it comes to working with LJ and most of the success I do have comes from trial and error. I am interested in starting a unique HP community and am desperate for someone to teach me how to do art for it and set it up properly. Your site is so lovely. Do you have any recommendations of someone I could talk to? I am quick with computers generally, although art isn't my thing, but the sites I have found to teach me how to put in a custom header or whatever just go right over my head.
Thanks again for the review in any case, even if you can't help with the other, and I know you're busy this week with your challenge coming to an end, so don't stress about getting back to me right away. This is a long-term project for me and I'm busy as well.
Thanks, and I hope to hear from you when you have a moment. snuggle
I found your lj through carrickorouke's entry for the current romancingwizard challenge. She has you listed as her proof-reader. (I had to send her an LJ message yesterday about the formatting of her fic, and I still haven't heard from her.)
Anyway, I decided to see who you were, and I saw 'Dresden Files', 'Harry Potter', and 'Twilight'. I showed that to gelsey because she's the one who got me into Dresden (I've read book one, but I have book two ready in my 'to read basket.'), and she's one of the people who told me about Twilight last year.
All the mods and lots of the members of romancingwizard -- as well as many of my regular LJ f-listers -- are Twilight fans. I'm not planning on writing any Twilight fan fic -- except for a few birthday gift drabbles -- at the moment. I'm finishing up my HP trilogy (romance_slythrn), and I've started an original novel.
So, what's your new community all about? I'm curious.
I'm not an expert, but I've found the most versatile layout is 'Nebula'. I've used it on these ljs: seaislewitch, romance_slythrn, and pureandproud, as well as on my friend's lj (redvelvetcanopy). To get a picture at the header, you just host a picture at Photobucket and pop in the URL into the right space on the LJ layout customization page (called images, I believe). Once you get in there and start playing, you'll get the hang of it. It's a lot of trial and error. If you had any specific questions, you could send an lj message or email me.
Heard about the formatting thing, and I'm sure it'll get taken care of today. Just real life stuff interfering, would be my guess. I'm happy to have you friend me, and I'm really appreciative of the layout suggestion as well. I'll check out that layout and see what I can do.
As for my new HP community, it's going to be a canon missing moment community. The idea will be that eventually it will be divided into seven areas (or more -- I may do Marauder era, for example) with a listing of every chapter in each book and people can post missing moment stories they've written (or links for recs) for any of the chapters, so they'll all be grouped in one spot and organized. They can also post art illustrating different events in the chapters. I'm still working on how to define "canon-based" and that sort of thing, but I hope eventually it will really be fun. I'm hoping that seeing areas where there isn't much fic written may inspire more missing-moment stories, or from different view-points, etc. I think people would like having all those stories easily accessible. I've never seen stories intentionally grouped as missing-moment stories other than Phoenix Song's challenge this winter and those were just DH missing moments, but it was really fun. I think it could be a really creative, interesting way to look at the HP world, now that we can look back over all 7 books and see places where things must have been happening that we didn't know about at the time.
Does that sound interesting? I hope you think so. I hope that the biggest thing I really have to do is define the rules of the community and then pimp the heck out of the idea. Anyway, it's early stages yet, but I am thinking it would be nice to have it up and functioning sometime this summer.
Well, must get off and get things done. I'll drop a note to Carrick and encourage posting!
Thanks for your quick response. snuggle
Oh, PS, I noticed your reccing of this story, which I really appreciate! So very, very nice of you.
That's a great idea for a community. There used to be a HBP missing moments community, but I haven't seen one for all the books.
I agree. Determining exactly what fics to include in your community would be the challenge. The book canon for each section is easy enough to define, but what if someone wants to post a well-written Luna and Harry snogging at the end of 5th year -- taking place when they have that moment? We know they didn't kiss, but could that be a missing scene for your community? The non-view point characters are the easiest to write missing scenes about.

At romancingwizard, we did Challenge Fifteen: DH Missing Scenes (link). (Here's the story listings: link.)
Personally, I've written a fair amount of missing scene fics and drabbles as well, mostly shippy but some gen.
