Tiny k. is busy learning the alphabet. Part of this is reading every sign she comes across.
She knows all the letters of the alphabet and understands the concept of reading (i.e. we read books where a bunch of letters after each other spell words) - but hasn't quite mastered the bit of sounding out letters and hearing the actual word they spell out.
On the pound coins, however, it apparently says
