so i'm taking a vietnam history course right now and i came across this quote in one of our readings.
"What do the peasants think as we ally ourselves with the landlords and as we refuse to put any action into our many words concerning land reform? What do they think as we test our latest weapons on them, just as the Germans tested out new medicine and new tortures in the concentration camps of Europe? Where are the roots of the independent Vietnam we claim to be building? We must find new ways to speak for peace in Vietnam and justice throughout the developing world. If we do not act we shall surely be dragged down the long, dark and shameful corridors of time reserved for those who possess power without compassion, might without morality, and strength without sight."
Martin Luther King, Jr.
"Declaration of Independence from the War in Vietnam"

sound like anything going on right now?? this was totally random, but i really wanted to share it - i would have put it in my away message but a friend of mine is in iraq right now and has aim - i wouldn't want him to think i was disrespecting him or anything. you get me.
ok randomness over.
so lily got her first tooth, and the second looks like it'll pop up any day now. teething is NO FUN. not only is she incredibly fussy, but she keeps BITING MY BOOB!!!! cripes. very uncomfortable. we also had a little b-day par-tay for her - she turned 6 months last thurs. i made a cake, cut it in half, stacked to two halves and only iced three sides of it. i put choc. chips in the middle (a sweet surprise, just like lily) and sprinkles and choc. chips on the top saying "1/2." help me, i've turned into my mother. for true.
i want to post some pictures on here, but i have no idea how to - does anyone??? help!!!
i think this is the longest post i've made in years. yay.

ps - joan and i are absolutely ridiculous. i hope everyone is prepared for next year when we'll do our photo shoot with the smoking jacket. oh yeah, and with an 18-month-old lily. amazing.
