The more I want to homeschool

BUT

I am not in the city where we could access all manner of awesome social, physical and creative activities for the kids.

Which is a BIG part of youth development too.

Argh!

Right now as I watch Sam try out his little social skill muscles I really struggle. As an introvert he needs to do things so differently to me, and the world is very much set up for extroverts. I have to constantly remind myself to do it 'his way' when helping him to manage his emotions, to learn how to interact - or it won't stick/feel natural/work for him.

Sam has a few deep friendships (as much as a three year old can - he has a few people he talks about more than any other) and that's what I focus on when I can.

I think I'll not care about the social for him too much. We've got him back in childcare one to two days a week right now (he's been asking) but as soon as flu season hits he's out again (no flu shot due to egg allergy, asthmatic so high risk for flu etc) and we'll just have to have him underfoot. He's loving it, and growing sooooo much from being there - it's totally worth it, but it's something I feel a bit torn about too.

Northam has three things I'm interested in for him... 3yr old preschool, kindygym and a Mainly Music actual music program for toddlers. Woot woot. Might actually make the effort to drive both kids there for Thurs mornings and they can do music and kindy gym and then drive home after... it's a LOT of driving but might be worth it. Will see.
