Another day has come and gone...pretty soon I will go to sleep and feel like I wake up two minutes later when the alarm goes off. I hope life will be slower at some point.
I went to a retirement home today with the SPCA volunteers and held a cat for the residents to pet and visit with. It was really rewarding. They all talked about how they used to have pets, but that they couldn't take care of them now, or how this cat or this dog looks like their daughter's. I could see the nostalgia in their eyes and I wondered how each of them had come to live in a nursing home. Had they lost their spouses already? It was a little bit sad to see how some just sat there without much reaction to life, but really amazing to see them react to the animals. Even the ones who said they didn't really like cats seemed to like just seeing them. It was so awesome to see the dogs and cats sitting in their laps, both animal and person
