Fascinating! That was fun.
This made me realize how well-rounded Yuri is. She did well in every single category and made a big jump up from what she's at in my bias list. It also made me realize that I don't really have much justification for Yoona being so high in my list, considering my top 3 criteria (vocal expression, humour, personality). But, to be fair, I don't think I've watched enough SNSD videos to give a good assessment on subjective things like humour and personality. Anyway.

It's pretty accurate, overall! :o

Would you mind posting a cap of your criterion ranking as well? I'm curious as to what people value in their idols, too.

I know right! Even GGTS way back when noticed this, describing her as having "undeniable appeal!"

My ranking turned out completely contrary to my subjective list. XD I think I didn't weigh X-factor and Personality enough. Sooyoung and Sunny(my biases, with Yoona in 3rd) didn't have that high of Funny scores because most of what I love about them are their badassness, which isn't necessarily funny as awesome.

I only go to SSF to read fanfic. But ooh, that is a fascinating thread to compare SSF/International member tendencies versus the Korean home fanbase. (Which seems to be that Yoona and Seohyun aren't as popular overseas as Yuri.) Looking back at my ranking now, it's no wonder that Taeyeon is the clear winner across the board, especially since she hasn't had to deal with the Yuri DilemmaTMHas your thread really been controversial ( ... )

Huh, so it looks like personality/comedy takes precedence for both of us, but you favor singing whereas I favor dancing. Yet Taeyeon and Yuri scored well for both of us.

But was it Hyohunnies attacking the thread for the concept of ranking, or just complaining about how low she was ranking?

Ooh, that brings up another point that came up about a loooooooooong time ago: when being consistently #2 actually does benefit XD in contrast to Yuri's always being #2 hurting her. Tiffany had 2nd place bids in both auctions but technically ends up raking in more cash than everyone else in total.

Hopefully I won't take a month to make the graphs. ;P I applaud your being able to count Bad Girl, though, seeing as how I haven't even watched more than a few seconds of it to confirm that it was a damn dance shot PV before flouncing off in a huff. XD

Isn't this actually YuRi's problem? That she's well-rounded but not necessarily the stand out in any one category, meaning she can easy make top 5 or even top 3 lists, but she tends not to be #1. We've had this convo way too many times, haven't we?

On the other hand, isn't the jack of all trades, master of none attribute a plus in idolling, versus "real" artists anyways? "They dance! They sing! They MC! They're hilarious! Not as good as this singer or that dancer or that MC or that comedian, but they do it all!" It's a Wal-Mart vs. specialty store comparison, in some ways.

Yeah, that multidimensional, jack-of-all-trades appeal can be sought after, which can turn her statistical 3 into a 1 in the hearts of many!
I dunno. I'm at least starting to warm up to her a lot more, after this recent revelation.

What appears to have happened with Yuri is that everyone likes her...as their #2. And in terms of money, that means very little because fans tend to either buy full group merchandise or that of only their #1. "She's good at singing...but not as good as Taeyeon. She's good at dancing...but not as good as Hyoyeon. She MCs...but not as good as Sunny." Not exactly the most appealing description.
