Also, my sister said that the "Love is just a game" sounds like Nicole Kidman in Moulin Rouge XD The engrish makes me giggle a lil ("hit that high" sounds like "hit that thigh" xP), but I'm usually too busy gawking and squeeing. Btw, the way Miryo delivers that "gratzi" is so cool XD
Watching this, I would have ranked them above 2NE1 in that performance ranking.
2NE1 does do well with the performance, but I think BEG is better in just the full package. I mean, yeah, they use back up dancers, but they use them so fucking well. It's a full show and it's amazing and bad ass and I agree, it's presence and also the talent that just explodes on stage XD
I also like your explanation of their solo work and how they've come back together, even more unified.
"their voice are similar but Taeyeon is better at adlibs!"

Uh oh, it sounds like their voices are already getting a little strained, and doubtless Narsha and Gain at least will be doing the variety rounds for promotion, so I think they might have to start nixing the high notes a la IU soon. I can't imagine how much Jea is having to work to have put that much power into her singing every time they do Sixth Sense.
Wow, I didn't know about the Shostakovich influence! No wonder there's that dystopian concept, lol. Plus the harsh strings part.
Huh, I wonder if it is a sample rather than one of the girls recording it! Yeah, some of the engrish is lulzy, but at least no "get into my core" nonsense.
You know what this means? BEG AT THE GAYO DAEJUNS FUCK YES 8D
But it only works if their sub-unit/solo stuff is tailored to their vocal dynamics. There was nothing special about Jetihyun's songs that any other vocal combination couldn't have done. Narsha and Gain's solo work both emphasized their roles in BEG. Both were sexy, but Narsha's came from her sheer confidence,(and BBRP was about Narsha always being in control) while Gain's was not based in magnificent power nor ferocity,(and Gain was also "the girl to rescue" in the Sign MV) which would be Jea and Miryo's territory, respectively.
At the point which SNSD doesn't have a distinct vocal dynamic in the first place other than "Seohyun sings the harmonies, Taeyeon does the main adlibs", they wouldn't be able to achieve the same effect through solo work anyways.

*snorts* But I'd bet that BEG would make "get into my core" sound awesome somehow.
Whoa, I already forgot about the 2009 daejuns ... I do remember their Sign performance though, all gothic-like.

Would it be even possible for SNSD to do this? And how?

The old version of TMYW also shows how they could differentiate Taengsic. Let Sunny and Jessica both share the smoother, higher soaring parts, so that Taeny can do the lower parts that call for more emphasis.
It's tricky placing Seo and Yuri other than as subs for one of the above four. I suppose Sunny and Seo could do harmonizing duties and then Yuri take lower-to-mid-register soaring parts to let Jessica focus on high notes.
Lololol if I had my way SNSD vocal leads would be Taeyeon, Sunny, and Yuri. XD
And then we have our three problem children left over. Uhhhhhhh I have no idea what to do with them tbh. ._.'
So there you go. Vocally, I'd marry TaeSunYul, fuck JeTiSeo, and cliff YooSooHyo. :P
XP Listened to a whole slew of SNSD ballads to double-check this post, and shisus most SNSD ballads are dull. I take back my ranking of Tears and go back to my original placement of Forever/OYL.

I assume it's just some namedropping on the PR branch of their company's part.
