Not exactly American idols: Korea

Sep 05, 2011 15:50

I'd seen videos of early J-idols before, but I saw the Kim Sisters in the Related Videos while watching Teddy Brown videos, and the hangul surprised me. Apparently the Kim Sisters also made an Ed Sullivan Show appearance, but I couldn't find a clip of it.

This is what an entire group of E-youngs looks like.
Also, they play marimba, so insta-win.

According to the comments, one of the members of the Korean Kittens was Yoon Bok-Hee, who as you'll see, split off, became "legendary", and got her own show.

I was amused by the comment that was extremely thankful that they couldn't hear any trot influence in this song.

There's a clear Phil Spector influence here.

Watch for the Japanese edition of "Not quite American idols", including a cover of "La Vie en Rose!"
