Since I already posted a review of the concert and now that fancams are out, there isn't much to say, I thought I'd try another format so here are my post-Dream Concert thoughts.
(sorry the pictures suck cos it was raining and my hand was shaking AND I'm Sunny-short :P)
Most valuable player:
Kim HeeChul as MC. He literally saved the show! gah! You make me proud to be a member of Rellagyo, Heenim ^^. He did everything in his power to entertain the crowd during unexpected delays (and there were many) - dancing/singing/poking fun at himself/telling jokes/doing aegyo. And the crowd loved him. I overheard lots of ahjummas asking their kids who he was and commenting on his humor and talents<3.
Most improved:
4-4-4-4-4Minute!
Seriously, I have to mention them because when they first came out I actually laughed at them in a I'm-so-embarassed-for-you way while they were promoting Hot Issue and the Tell Me cover. But then I saw some potential during last year's Dream Concert where they summoned up their inner fierce for "Muzic" and this year, they were PROS. Damn.. although I think that HyunAh and short hair girl (JiYoon?) pretty much carry the group with their charisma. But still they were awesome and yes FIERCE! I wasn't sure how I felt about HUH before but after watching it live <333. Couldn't help dancing in my seat! and again HYUNAH!! can't believe she was once the most disliked for her cutesy rap. On second thought, I think most improved should go to Hyunah alone =P
Most awkward:
Shin Se Kyung as MC.
Gah! I think the show would've been much better with just Heechul (if not then, Chul and Taek) but Shin Se Kyung was just such a Debbie Downer. I'm sure the producers expected it though cos it would've been strange to see Korea's latest #1 Girl next door being all confident and talkative. Still, with all the delays, this probably wasn't the best place to try her out. I felt bad cos you could feel her cringing and nerves.
Most shocking moment:
2PM - I totally was not expecting the chants for JaeBum during their talk and it was so loud, I'm sure they could hear it on stage. Ugghh even though I'm not a 2PM fan, I felt bad for them.
And then in Don't Stop, there's a part where TaecKhun fight. I hadn't watched them perform this song before so I was really shocked when Taec pushed Khun (especially cos they looked and sounded genuinely angry while performing the song)..
Most disappointing:
Wonder Girls' 2 Different Tears. Seriously? That was the only thought in my head. After making the poor girls sing only Nobody for 2 years, at least give them something better! They didn't sound or look good. YeEun's outfit especially looked awkward.. just everything about it was bleh!
Most surprising:
Most surprising:
F(x): They're really charismatic on stage and now, with SNSD focusing on overseas activites, I think SM is going to go all out and push them everywhere. Krystal and Sulli really seem like they have the most potential..speaking and on stage presence wise! Luna has amazing vocals but SM hasn't been promoting her a lot on shows just yet. Amber is the most popular with general audiences (not sure about amongst F(x) fans). Sadly, I think Victoria is the weakest link.. but I guess time will tell. Maybe she can be the next Geng/Khun.
Best performance (newcomer):
Most of the first time performers did really well (helps that they had popular catchy songs too) but the crowd favorite and most pro were definitely..
B2ST
- loved the remixed Shock dance interlude thingy! and Special is one of my favorite performance on music shows cos its so simple but they always look so happy and suave. I'm glad they had a Shock/Mystery mashup and I loved shouting "SHOCK"! along with the crowd haha. They also totally stole the show during 4Minute's intro hehe.
Best performance (overall):
Supe Junior- Bonamana
- (I know I'm biased! sorry :P) But I truly believe this song needs to be seen live to get the full effect. Like how some songs sound so much better in a club or at full blast in your car... like you can feel it. Watching it on tv doesn't convey the energy and power and DANCE BREAK!!! <33333 to death! Plus I love that they performed Sorry Sorry remix. My favorite part is always when the boys are jumping and shouting "sorry sorry sorry sorry! shawty shawty shawty shawty" and the crowd sings along ^^.
Most touching:
SS501:
- Took me completely by surprise! To be honest, I was looking forward to them the least cos I knew they were going to be singing ballads and I haven't been a fan of their previous music but as soon as Let me be the One (their new song) started, I knew I would love it. I have a huge weakness for piano openings and gah! the song is so oldschool pop- simple and pretty (like B2st's Oasis)<33
Anyway, the SS501 boys seemed genuinely touched to be there and suprised at how much support there was in the crowd. The two HJs (Hyungjoon and Hyunjoong)-can never remember which is which but both made me tear up. Leader is usually all 4D and brutally honest but like Heechul/Jaejoong, he doesn't hide how he feels so his tears and regret at delaying their comeback felt real. And maknae holding back his tears as he was singing was the most precious thing ever!
Queen of Fierceeeee Award:
Lee Hyori
- I will now surrender to the general consensus that she is HBIC. She's so comfortable on stage and made me enjoy Chitty Chitty Bang Bang for the first time. Helps that she wasn't wearing some strange costume I think (same with Rain =P) and she brought a freakin bike on stage! awesome! She probably got the biggest overall response from the crowd.
(Special Mentions:)
Jung Nicole(Kara): how does she go from cute to fierce in one instant?!?! And the boys love it, especially when she turned her back to the crowd.lol. Even the SNSD fanboys abandoned their noonas for a while and were screaming 'Nicole! Nicole!'
Kim Hyoyeon (SNSD): Hyobiased but still Hyoyeon was awesome in the Dance Battle. She totally owned it and it was nice to hear the Soshi fanboys around me screaming, "It's Hyoyeonieee!" Her moves in RDR were so damn strong and precise. And her counting fail! and adorable smile made me so happy! Did not disappoint!
Xander (UKISS): haha I first got to know Xander from all the diva! gifs posted of him over at omonatheydidnt. Then I went back and realised that he was the kid who sat behind Hyo on SGB one time and since he's a foreigner, Hyo was teaching him answers or something (and it was really cute!) Plus some antis say that Hyo and Xander look alike (no shame in that! they're both so adorable<3). Anyway, his pose in the pictures made him look so divalike I had to laugh :p
Legend Award:
Bi (Rain)
Just like Hyori, Bi is loved by all. He also commands the stage so naturally and even though his dance moves aren't all fancy, he definitely knows what he's doing. When he smiles you want to smile, when he looks sad, you feel bad too! and when he dances, you scream^^ My ears almost popped when he started his waves. keke. I love his schoolboy smile!
Special guest:
ABS LOL
We had guy from ZE:A who very dramatically burst his shirt open, Lee Joon teasing and Teukkie flashing his abs and the crowd LOVED it! It was a little disappointing that Bi didn't flash his abs..everyone was expecting it and getting all excited as he loosened his tie but no dice :D. And where were you, Kikwang?? >.< haha. Thank god no more BeastTaek, I'm glad he's giving it a rest!
The girls were also represented well by Nicole/Hyori/After School.
Crowd Favorites (Loudest Screams in a group performance):
Khun, Amber, Nicole, Yoochun-lookalike, Lee Joon (not sure about the other groups cos I was busy screaming my head off as well =P)
Ms Mr. Congeniality:
Male S<3ne sitting in our section.
A S<3one boy came right before the show started and sat down in our row. He had an umbrella but since we were on the ground, the staff told him to close it. It was raining but they had run out of raincoats so the staff was like, "Sorry, I guess you'll have to sit through it". Poor thing was in a tshirt! But then he took his phone out to call a friend and he had a Sunny wallpaper. Seeing this the boy behind him, who was carrying a SNSD lightstick took out his hoodie and told him to wear it and cover his head! aww!
Team Spirit Award:
Soshi Soshi!
They were just so bubbly/hyper/excited/happy to be there. Starting from their interview where Hyo was choding to their random "adlibs" and "cheers" during Oh! I loved the end where they sang the fanchants, "chigeum eun SNSD, apeuro do SNSD, yeongwonhee SNSD, SNSD Saranghae"
I'm glad they could enjoy the show fully and confidently this year, unlike last year where they seemed a bit hesitant and scared in the beginning and overwhelmed at the end of their performance. You are the nation's girl group now! Enjoy it ^^
Inspiration Award:
Super Junior:
They are amazing sunbaes and they deserve credit for that! Chul was great in leading the MCs and in promoting the different artistes at the event. Teukkie mentioned the different fanclubs present and thanked all the fans for coming out despite the rain. I am SM Town biased so I loved his promotions of SM Town<3 ^^. But you could also see how much respect and love they got from the other artistes as well. Most of them beelined to greet them when they were leaving the stage. I love that they stayed till the end and greeted their fans and told us to go home safely and to catch the last subway home. They even tweeted after to say thanks and to say they hoped the fans got home safe (I'm touched by their concern because it took me 3 hours to make it home even though it usually takes just 1 hr! achoo!!) At the end, it seemed like TeukChul were MCing haha.
Cassiopeia: for keeping the faith and singing so prettily <3 " 믿으요"
Lastly, I almost went cross-eyed scouring fancams for Hyo-ments in the encore and I managed to find:
HyoCole, HyoBin (i think everyone saw that)
Hyo-SeoYeon (T-Ara)
Hyo-Junho (quite a few I think, but need proper fancams to confirm)
Hyo-Hae (looked like he patted her head :D)
HyoNew (yay!)
and I'm pretty sure its just me imagining it but either DooJoon's very lost/easily distracted or there's something fishy. I saw him looking back in Hyo's direction quite a few times. Will screencap when I get home and my computer's not being so laggy =D
