It's ... exactly as expected. Watching the new MVs, I felt all the same gleeful shrieks and frustrated groans (hair?!? styling?!) coming back.

As if nothing had ever changed (though I guess that shows how much it has?).

Oh man, this entire thing has been just pure delicious popcorn.

The songs are mediocre as usual, but THE DRAMZ! The gossip! Jessica released her own 10th anniversary mini, and then they ended up holding fan-meetings on the same day AND in the same building, and then SNSD went and only promoted for 1 whole week.

But, uh, at least they did that special fanmeeting where they wore the ORIGINAL GG outfits? And they had that livestream. The HyoFRINGEEEEE is back.

Do any of you have thoughts on Tiffany? I think she had a very good 2016, not just "I Just Wanna Dance," which got all the attention, but the even better "Heartbreak Hotel" and "Don't Speak," the latter with Far East Movement. I'd never formed much of an opinion of her singing, which had seemed precise but rather characterless. But "characterless" turns out to be the perfect character for those tracks. The songs bring their own emotions, and a thin surgical voice is just the thing to not overwhelm them.

I agree that, once we get into the vocal chopping portion, that characterless is all fine and good. However, I think one optimization is out of Tiffany's control, which is having a unique vocal timbre. Someone could sing with the exact same inflections, but simply having a sharper or more "nasal" timbre makes for a better synth substitute, something to be used as an instrument only. That would lend extra punch to the non-chopped sections. After all, the chopped sections effectively do that by adding distortion to the vocal sample. Compare to BoA.Re: the other two

Although, the comparison to Tiffany may not be strictly fair, since Sunny's soprano timbre is closer to Barbara, while Barbara's late voice is of the sharper "nasal undertone" timbre that Taeyeon/Seohyun/Jessica/BoA have, but Tiffany is still similar to Barbara's early voice, in that her singing voice is pretty much her speaking voice.
