The person responsible for the weak, lulzy Mr Mr choreo did f(x)'s RPPP; you'll see the ease of RPPP reflected in Mr Mr.
I haven't watched the Wait a Minute perf, because I read something about "bunny rabbit dance" and that just about ended any interest in seeing it.
Off topic: The Mr Mr choreo is basic enough as it is, and these girls still can't hit the moves harder? Partially the choreo (ok, and the song too) requires so little in the way of energy, but they are not delivering. Here's hoping they do better on Music Bank.
Really weird to actually watch a live in such a long time...
Music Bank looked better styling wise, and it seems they're trying for more sass and personality but it all depends on the camera. And the choreo doesn't really lend for it, really.
My thought is if they were going to be this laid back, then they really should have played with the choreo. SM has instead given the interesting stuff to SHINee and DBSK, probably because less people. I think SNSD can hit that choreo but management has been determined not to go that way, which has always been a shame.
Have no idea where they're trying to take SNSD, really. With the talk of SM pushing more into China, I wonder if they'll focus on Super Junior, Exo and f(x) more than SNSD there. It just seems like SNSD stuff has stalled...
Oh man, I liked RPPP so much as a song that I never watched any lives. XD Now that you point it out, I definitely see some similarities to the Electric Shock dance, but it's a shame that other than the first section of Mr. Mr., with all of the entrances/exits, they didn't play with the formations that much to make up for the lower difficulty.
Plus, difficulty of choreo can always be made up by swag, but SNSD were sorely lacking in the right kind of swag for these outfits.
I think the issue is that most of SNSD no longer want to focus on the dancing that much. XD
My perception is that SM are trying to cement SNSD as a long-term legitimate artist with staying power, so they can't go chasing opportunities like they're desperate for them. But I haven't paid attention to any of the stuff they're doing, like that Chinese videogame OST Soul is for, so what do I know.
WHAT IS THIS MIRACLE THE MUBANK PERF ACTUALLY HAS GOOD CAMERAWORK. Nearly perfect camerawork, at that! YES. YES. YES, THIS IS HOW YOU SHOOT A DANCE. This is, like, MV dance shot levels of good camerawork. Whaaaaaaat.
And yeah, you can tell that they feel much more comfortable with the swag here because they're back on heels, so the aloof posturing isn't as awkward. Downside, they aren't leaning as far as I wish they could sometime because they have to keep their balance on the heels, and the end of the dance break was really awkward.
unbelievable! yes mubank actually has good camera work. i'm surprised too. this was much better than mnet. not sure if it's due to pants vs skinny jeans but mubank's outfit definitely had better effect. but the fact that they're in heels made the dance break less impactful. the thing is that i don't think they're going for swag but more of a sleek sassy attitude? hence the moves were less hard hitting and there was more posturing? they can do those hard hitting choreo.. igab showed they still can.. i don't think it's them not hitting the choreo hard.. seems like the choreo and the song.. idk.. song continues to grow on me with each listen though
( ... )
I think the choreo is also a matter of time. They probably only had 1-2 days or so to learn and perfect this, as it's something learnable over the course of a few hours in a beginner's hip hop class, and as we know, the girls' lesson are usually late night.
Lol, the heels just keep getting higher with each performance. And the pants are back to being skin-tight down to the ankle. :\
I've been feeling that disconnect ever since Hoot, lol, since they spoiled me with all of their dance showcase routines in sneakers.
MuCore looked and sounded a ton better (well, with the exception of Tiffany's adlib - who thought that was going to be a good idea really what; the key change is also unnecessary ugh). I don't think it's necessarily swag that I'm looking for (that was IGAB), but a sense of confidence and owning the performance.
Thing is, there's this magic time right after the initial comeback where everyone is on - and then the performance quality fades back down into blase-land.
Also, with all the posturing and the slinkiness of the choreo, I think heels really do look better.
All in all, I think they sold it much better in MuCore.
ETA: BTW OMTD has all the special stages from MuCore's 400th episode up and it looks freaking awesome 8D
Holy crap, Kaeun surprised the heck out of me during Bang! - didn't expect her to have that much sass danggggg
The switches were a mess omg. Maybe if they had longer to practice then they could each own it, but man was it awkward to watch. (Miss A's "Hush" continues to grow on me, surprisingly)
agree with fany's adlib.. agree with mucore being best. outfits, energy and all.. yeah they usually don't give a shit after the 1st week or week and a half. inki's camera was.... shit.. did show the dance break quite well tho.

And they're not in jeans that are skintight all of the way down inside shoes, which helps. You want a bottom that's tight on the ass, but leaves some extra fabric towards the bottom to enhance movements through delayed follow-up. Plus, the open width at the ankle contrasts with the actual width of the ankle, and just highlights the shape of the leg better, whereas skintight right to the shoe brings attention to how ugly the ankle-to-foot junction actually is.
