Don't forget "write a few lines as an excuse to post musical numbers by the truckload!"
Besides, I confined most of the actual bitching to the lj this time. And it's been a while since I've done a really Jpop pimp post, the Momoclo in the last one not withstanding.

Hah, I'll just have to put a 48 sync post together at some point. Sure, they might not be able to approach SNSD's best days, but recently SNSD don't seem to approach their best days that often either, and there's a lot of context kind of justifying 48's messiness that SNSD don't have.
The choreography for the NMB dance is like Hoot's: just doesn't look that impressive. But the second half of the dance break is almost like Shinee's Amigo.

I'm not sure if proper Jpop bands mime their perfs at all. Vocals are definitely live for the few SCANDAL perfs I checked just now, but since they can actually play it's harder to know if they're miming or just playing well. Here and here the guitars are plugged in, and it would be hard to mime that drum intro for the first link, so they might be fully live.
Is that a DVD rip for that HaruKaze perf? The camerawork seems more intimate than the usual music shows do.
I know some concert DVDs get cleaned up sound, although the concert itself is played live.

n64 is produced by the same guy behind AKB48. They're pretty much piggy-backing only at this point.

I'll concede it's probably bias, especially for the NMB48 one. Will also agree that the Letterman perf was a cut above the usual, and that I probably felt more excitement watching that one than the entire Hoot cycle I didn't pay any attention to. The perf in France benefitted from a bigger crowd and space than Kelly, so that the fan support felt more credible and not as embarrassing. Definitely agree with the contrast to "Nobody."

Will completely defend the SKE48 perf, though. That opening is definitely using some ballet moves,(Man I need to figure out who that is on the far left second row pulling off those extensions perfectly in the opening seconds) and at a ridiculous pace, just a couple clicks faster than the ITNW remix, and including the equivalent to that one hands section of the Sorry Sorry dance break.
The inclusion of AKBand, Fairies, and Tokyo Girls Style were more to show the variety being offered compared to the painfully generic "The Boys." But sure, I'd defend that the Fairies perf was on par in difficulty to "The Boys,"(even the Letterman perf) and still some clicks faster.

For a moment I thought of the Hotshot/Sixth Sense awesomeness, but I wish "The Boys" was as good of a buzz single as Hotshot. But it seems that the only reason that they did this perf in France was because they were also there for MuBank Paris already. I doubt that in the event of their "real" release that they'll make the same rounds of appearances, simply from the expenses involved. And one would expect that for a buzz single, the real one would follow soon afterward. If the rumors are correct and they'll start preparing the english album late this summer, the thing won't drop until next year. By then they'll be long forgotten, and will basically have to drum up hype from zero again. Will Interscope be willing to wait that long, especially with the ever-looming 2NE1-Will.I.Am album coming?
Isn't SNSD doing a Japan repackage next? Ugh, why.

Well damn, Yuria and Akari killed it. *goes to find their stage units*
Lol, I thought it was Matsurina in Yuria's spot at first.

I'm down with the SKE routine. It's good and fast and really snappy at first with its in-your-face emotions. Makes me think that's the route they should go down, be the unit that's defined by tight routines and aggressive sounds.

Don't see what you see in Fairies dancing at all.

Tiffany: We do have plans on releasing an American album around spring or summer. They released the JP repackage at the end of last year, coming back with a new single there in March.

Unfortunately, their sound is still defined by the same producer, so they don't get aggressive singles often.(Unless you include aggressively bubblegum...) But they are characterized as the most high-energy dancing group, sometimes at the cost of being flaily. NMB will probably be the tighter group, actually, but they don't have the raw energy SKE has made their trademark.

It's not so much "omg Fairies dancing is so good" as that it's equal to the difficulty of The Boys' dance. Actually, the dance to Hero contains an impromptu drop into a crouch that they have to get up from within a measure, in every chorus,(not just once for a rap bridge) on sharp sandal heels. No boots ankle reinforcement. The formation work also seems tighter, but that's more from The Boys' formations being nothing special to begin with, and Fairies having two less members making a world of difference in the clutter factor.

Oh damn, ss that recent information? I thought SSF clarified preparations for the English album would being around summer.
