I AM SPENDING THE LAST FEW PRECIOUS DAYS OF MY VACATION LOSING MY SHIT OVER THE FINAL STRETCH OF "CHEONGDAMDONG ALICE" AND I JUST FINISHED EP 13 AND WHAAAAAT IS EVEN HAPPENINGGGGG ON THIS SHOW OMG OMG OMG OMG.
I can't even do a pimp post for it or anything because all of the awesome things are spoilers! DAMMIT!
I think the thing that I'm really into about dramas currently is ones that start off in one direction and then do SOMETHING TOTALLY UNEXPECTEDLY DIFFERENT. I'm sure if you've ever watched any kdramas (or other Asian dramas, maybe? I don't have other experience, though), you have noticed that they ALL HAVE THE SAME ARCS, over and over and over! AH! So I love it when you start watching a show and you're like, "Yep, the plot will go here, this character fits into that archetype, etc. etc." and then five episodes later you're like "WAIT WHAT THE FUCK JUST HAPPENED." I think part of why I latched onto "City Hunter" was because, from the very first episode, you immediately knew that you were watching something different -- but with "Cheongdamdong Alice," I thought it was just another workplace romcom but suddenly ALL OF THESE CRAZY THINGS ARE HAPPENING. It reminds me of "Prosecutor Princess" in that way, I guess? And it probably also explains why seemingly everybody else has given up on the show at this point, if I can judge from tumblr and the fact that now all of my friends are just blabbing about "School 2013" or whatever. Actually, I didn't watch any of "Alice" for the past few weeks because, based on the lull that passed over this show's buzz, I assumed that it just got boring at the end...? BUT IT'S NOT, IT'S FUCKING AWESOME. OMG.
(Well, okay, objectively it is a hot mess because they keep doing hot potato with which plots/characters/moral messages are in the forefront, but this is another one of those cases where I'm like, "This show is whacked out but IT'S MY PERFECT KIND OF WHACK, YOU MADE IT JUST FOR ME!!!")
Also, while I may have initially watched for Park Shi Hoo, hoooooo boy this piece of hotness:
LET ME LOVE YOU. YOU ARE SO BEAUTIFUL.
And the ladies are knocking it out of the park and I my secondary OTP is Se Kyung/Yoon Ju and ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I love getting crazy emotional over television.
AND THE OVER ACTING! OH MAN HOW I LOVE IT! Like, every time something dramatic happens, there are angry fists and crumpled papers and "GAAAAAAASP"s and clutched pearls, or somebody collapses to the floor, or their eyes get wide and crazy, and, like, TWELVE DRAMATIC THINGS HAPPEN EVERY EPISODE. THERE ARE NO POKER FACES TO BE HAD. IT'S MY FAVORITE.
