Okay, is it just me or is Crusoe being preempted by some Christmas special?? WHAT GIVES, NBC? Y'all know how much holiday cheer I harbor in my heart, BUT NOT WHEN IT INTERFERES WITH MY WEEKLY PIRATICAL EXPLOITS. Sigh.
In other TV news, new SGA! Which, for whatever reason, I really wasn't that into this week, but I've been dutifully reacting to every single episode this season so it would feel amiss to start slacking now...
Todd! Lorne! Team adventures! Seemingly all the right ingredients for an episode I would love. And yet... not. I don't know? Was it just me? It just felt like it had "FILLER" written alllll over it. I feel weird saying that because, hi, storyline follow-up! But it just felt like they fudged a lot of character histories/interactions in order to stretch the drama, which is a recipe for AUTOMATIC FAIL. Like, okay, I know I KNOW that the last Todd-centric episode did not end on a positive note for them, but, uhhh?? Kinda justified by the fact that he thought you were all blowing up his ships, right? Which, as I mentioned at the time... apparently nobody bothered to clear up for him? Uhh? Gosh, wonder why there might still be some bad blood there? So anyway, it just kind of rubbed me the wrong way that Sheppard's first inclination was to just blow them out of the sky and leave it at that. What happened to the "TODD AND I HAVE A RELATIONSHIP" Sheppard of yore, hmmm?? Don't dishonor your feelings, John! It makes me quite sad. :( I love how their humanitarian mission of aid basically turned into IM IN UR BASE KILLIN UR D00DZ.
And then Keller, like... wtf... has she not just spent the last two years in Pegasus living with life-or-death crises on a regular basis? Did she not just spend the previous episode kicking everybody's ass into gear to save the day? And yet now to have a "relationship moment" she's all like, "Oh Rodney protect me from the big bad universe!" Whaaaat on earth. DO NOT WANT. That just seemed so out of character, I was really baffled.
Things that were good:
-"Rodney, this schematic you gave us is a piece of crap!" Haha, I don't even know, but it cracked me up. Gee, John, why don't you tell us how you really feel?
-The John/Woolsey scene at the end. SDFAK'AK'SDFJLJL;AFSD SO MUCH LOVE. Really, their scenes together were probably the only things that really made this episode worth staying up for.
-Bitchy!Todd. Is my favourite! Also, not sure if it was intentional or not, but I loved the parallelism between John in the chair at the start of the episode and then Todd doing his weird Wraith-y mind link bit in piloting the hive at the end. DUDE. THEY ARE SO MEANT TO BE.
Maybe I'm just getting so impatient for "Vegas" that everything between is like... OMG hurry up and get over with...! Except not really because, well, yeah. :/ Why is everything getting canceled?? Oh, and now apparently NBC might not be picking up Merlin? Don't do this to me, TV!! I'm getting ready to watch the new episode right now, actually... this is going to be BIG TIME DRAMARAMA, isn't it? *is so totally going to cry, I CAN FEEL IT*
