I've made some slight progress on my job hunt; I think I'll be doing some writing for the newspaper this summer. One of the pieces I'm working on is about life post-Potter (yes, I know it's painful to think about), especially in regards to reading material. It's book recommendations for people in that awkward age bracket of about 12-18 (mostly middle/high school, I guess) where the children's section is boring but the adult section is all John Grisham and Janet Evanovich. I don't want to make it all about other YA fantasy series, though. I was thinking about focusing on the different aspects that make Harry Potter great, and then recommend a different book or series that fits that same category (e.g. friendship and camaraderie = The Three Musketeers).
Anyway, the point of this is me trolling for book recommendations. I'd really love any suggestions that you might have, because it's been way too long since I've read anything new. I can't guarantee that I'll get a chance to use it, but I will definitely appreciate it!
