As of late, I've become way too invested in way too many TV shows. Even if it's something that I'm recording, I still drop everything when it comes on, because it would be impossible to wait a moment longer to watch it (okay, lie! Sometimes I'll let it record for about fifteen minutes so I can fast forward through the commercials. But you get the idea). And now I'm trying to deal with my ever expanding list of TV boyfriends. My TV boyfriend was initially open to only one person at a time, but it has become too difficult to juggle back and forth between which one is cooler each week. I've settled on having one TV boyfriend from each show that I'm currently following, which seems reasonable enough. Some were harder to narrow down than others, but I managed to come up with my final list -- complete with lovely visual aids!
House, M.D.
My original TV boyfriend -- the one who started it all! I do feel a little guilty that I have since considerably broadened my horizons, but in no way does that take away from my love of Dr. Wilson. Not a week goes by that I don't fidget awkwardly on the couch wondering when Wilson is finally going to pop up in the episode already, at which point in time I have to sigh, "Oh my gosh, could I possibly love him any more?"
Lost
Lost is the only show where I am infinitely more in love with the behind-the-scenes brains than the on-screen eye candy. To be honest, I'm usually just as excited (if not more so) about listening to the new podcast as I am about watching the new episode every week. I can't imagine splitting up the dynamic duo of Damon and Carlton, but since I am singling out my one boyfriend from each show, I guess it has to be Damon. Because he has an earring.
Psych
I know this show is kind of on the DL in between new episodes, but over the past week I've been getting back into it as I catch my sister up with the end of the first season. As a corollary to this resurgence of Psych!love, I've also been reminded of just how awesome Lassiter is. He's such a strong character, and yet so vulnerable, too. It's all in the eyes...!
Robin Hood
Whoops, how did Marian end up in there? I guess I might just have a teeny bit of a girl!crush on her, and couldn't resist slipping her in. No harm, no foul -- she certainly doesn't take away from the brooding brilliance of Sir Guy of Gisborne. My oh my, but doesn't he know how to smolder!
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
For all my mocking of my sister for working out and watching Star Trek all day, I'm rapidly turning into her. As part of my New Year's resolution was to exercise more, my daily routine now includes working out and watching Deep Space Nine. Julian Bashir is a welcome addition to my list of TV boyfriends; even when I snarked on my sister for watching DS9 all the time, I still had a secret crush on him. Now I can freely proclaim my love as I sweat away in front of the TV every morning.
Star Trek: The Original Series
I must just have a thing for Starfleet CMOs, because just as Bashir is my favourite on DS9, McCoy is my TV boyfriend for TOS. Like I said above, I always used to make fun of my sister for watching Star Trek, but I inadvertently got myself hooked in the process. Up at school, though, I didn't have any Spike TV playing five hours of back-to-back Star Trek, so the only series I could watch on my very limited fourteen channels was the Original Series on the CW in the middle of the night on Saturdays. Honestly, I think it's a lot more entertaining than most people give it credit for, so now I'm catching up with it on TV Land. Episodes every day, and not just once a week! Woo!
Bleak House
How unfortunate... it took me ages even just to find this tiny picture of Mr. Guppy. It's a real shame, because after finishing about half of the book and a third of the miniseries, I have become quite attached to him. I took to him from the start, even when he was just the awkward dork with an embarrassing crush on Esther. Now, though, I am quite proud that I picked him as my favourite. Mr. Guppy >>>>> Mr. Woodcourt. Seriously, Esther.
American Idol
Okay, so I cheated. However, the rule that I couldn't only choose one person was self-imposed... If I make the rules, I can change 'em! And, man. After Wednesday, how could I possibly split up Cake? No. Impossible. Giant fluffly hearts around both of them -- Chris because he is too sweet to be true, and Blake because he is just freakin' cool. Haha, I love that they fangirl each other more than I could possibly fangirl either one of them.
