I got a rather unexpected hair cut this weekend. On Saturday, while I was watching the last part of "Doctor Zhivago," I started looking at my hair and the extreme number of split ends. I mentioned to my sister that I really needed a hair cut, so she offered to cut it for me.
Now, my sister has cut my hair a few times before. The last time she cut it was about three years ago, and she cut it a lot too short so I haven't let her cut it since then. However, she told me that she even cuts her own hair now, and I figured that between that last hair fiasco and now she has probably had some more hair experience. Also, I had about two feet of hair to work with, so there was quite a bit of room for error. I went ahead and told her that it was fine.
When Nickie asked how much I wanted off the ends, I indicated a length of about two or three inches, all the dry, uneven, scraggly stuff that was hanging around for no reason. It seemed to be going well enough until she got around to the other side and it was about four inches shorter on one side than the other. Indeed. Fantastic. I waited for my mother to get home from Bok Tower and had her even it out for me. My hair used to be elbow length, and it is now about chest length. It is quite a bit shorter than I wanted, but it doesn't look bad and I don't really mind that much. I'll finally be able to wear it down, because before it would always get stuck in the back of my chair at school but now it should be short enough to avoid that problem.
