Today we were pulling out of the school parking lot onto the highway, and somebody pulled up next to our car. Like half of the student body, they had the volume on their stereo pumped up as high as it could go, and the song that was playing was "Toxic." My sister remarked on how much she liked that song and inquired as to who performed it.
Me: You haven't heard this song before?
Nickie: No.
Me: Oh. It's that new Britney Spears song.
People who know my sister will understand the humour of this situation. Now, I am not a huge fan of Britney, but I don't hate her with a burning passion, either. However, like a large number of young girls, I went through a slight teeny bopper stage somewhere between the fifth and sixth grade and, lucky me! That was right when nice pop artists like NSYNC and Britney Spears were coming out. So, yes, I do in fact own a Britney Spears CD and my sister would make fun of me for it so much. Every time I would listen to it she would tell me how horrible it was and how much of a sheep I was for listening to it. Eventually I drifted towards other interests (mainly those of the geeky variety, so I'm not sure it counts as improvement).
Anyway, I now have license to make fun of my sister as much as I want. Not that I would, because she is a wonderful person, but I can enjoy the knowledge that if I wanted to I would be completely entitled to do so.
(Unrelated, but, ahhhh this song has been stuck in my head for the last week!)
