Sungmin’s P.O.V.

Why is she here? I’m not ready to face her yet.

No Body’s P.O.V.

Sungmin slowly backed away from the person in front of her, wanting to get away from them. No, no. This can’t be happening to me! I’m not ready! Not now, not ever! I still can’t get those horrid memories out of my head. She clung to her head and slide downwards towards the ground as memories flooded her mind.

~*|Flashback|*~

A wave of water attacked the unconscious 6 year-old Sungmin who was tied tightly to a chair. Sungmin slowly opened her eyes and observed her surroundings. She was in a tiny wooden shed that only had a bed, a desk, some chairs and an extra room added onto the shed which was probably the washroom. Everywhere she looked, written on the walls were words of, “Please kill me”, “Let me die” or “Leave me alone.” Blood stains were splattered all around the shed, on the roof, and on the walls. There were no windows which made the room pitch black, except for a tiny bit of light shining through a small crack from the roof. Sungmin shivered with fear and thought, What the heck? Where am I? Why am I here? The last thing I remember was that I was skipping towards the car, going to school… And then someone grabbed my wrist, putting a piece of cloth over my mouth and nose. I felt weak… And everything around me fell into darkness.  “Oh? You’re finally awake, Sungmin-ah?” asked a man, hidden in the dark corner of the room. Sungmin squinted her eyes, trying to focus all her attention to see who the man was, but failed to do so. “I hope you’re comfortable in that seat because you’re going to be there for a long, long time.” He chuckled and walked out of the shadows, revealing himself to Sungmin. Sungmin gasped and thought, ”Why is he doing this to me? He was so nice to me! Why?” She must have thought out loud because the man replied in return,”Don’t blame me Sungmin. Blame you’re lovely parents for taking the company away from me! The company that was mine and MINE only! You’re parents have no right to own it! They did NOTHING to deserve it! As for me, I did everything! I worked hard, got contracts with big companies and, managed the financial budget, and what do I get in return? NOTHING, but a job as a manager! What is that!?” He flung his arms in the air in exasperation.

“But that doesn’t give you the right to tie me up to a chair and lock me up in this shed, Uncle Lee,” Sungmin sputtered. “ I thought you loved me!”

“The love I showed to you, Sungmin, was all fake.” The man whispered. “I pretended I loved you so your parents wouldn’t suspect me. Deep inside, I despised you, your brother, and especially your parents. My brother never gave a damn about the company, but was still inherited with the company by your lovely grandfather, just because he was the eldest son! For heaven’s sake, I’m only 5 minutes younger than him!” The man smashed his glass of wine onto the floor with rage, causing it to shatter to a millions pieces. Tears slowly rolled down Sungmin’s cheeks as her uncle’s intention entered her mind. Oh my god, he’s going to kill me. Somebody, save me! Please, anybody! Dad… Mom… Siwon? Anyone? Please!?

“Sungmin-ah, stop crying. No one’s here to pity you and no one’s going to find you. Now be a good girl and stay still,” said Sungmin’s Uncle as he walked over to her with a pointy object. Sungmin screamed, shaking in her chair, truggling to dodge the sharp needle her uncle had in his hand. But she couldn’t. As Sungmin slowly slipped out of consciousness, she felt her uncle release her from the chair and everything sank into darkness once again.

A month of being locked up and separated from society slowly passed by. During that time, Sungmin became very paranoid at the thought of her parents giving up on looking for her. Just abandoned her, forgot that they even had a daughter and continued on living their lives like before without her. She thought over how she spent the month, living in this small shed. She was well fed, was given clothes to wear, given books and textbooks to study from. Her uncle didn’t treat her that bad. He came once in a while, drunk, and yelled at her, but never dared to hit her. He even started to cry in front of her once. She felt bad for her uncle. He really did do everything he could to make the company what it is now and all he got was a manager’s position while her father did nothing really, but sign papers all day in his office, not giving a damn.

Another month passed and Sungmin finally gave up on any hope of her parents saving her. So she became accustomed to living in that tiny shed, alone. She was practically as smart as a twelfth grader now, after studying from all the textbooks and workbooks her uncle gave her. But her comfort disappeared the instant her cousin found out Sungmin was locked up in that shed.

Yes, Seohyun hated Sungmin; not because Sungmin’s father took over the company instead of her own father, but because Sungmin got all the attention, leaving her in the shadows. In all the parties and celebrations the company held, Sungmin would be surrounded by compliments while Seohyun was forced to stand beside Sungmin, listening to all these compliments that were not directed to her. When she found out that her dad was the one who kidnapped Sungmin, Seohyun always went into the shed after her father left to return home and yell at Sungmin, even hit her at times because she got so mad. Sungmin would always be left bleeding and crying on the floor as Seohyun walked out of the shed, smiling cruelly. Seohyun had warned Sungmin, if she ever told her dad that she found out about the shed, Sungmin would never see the light of day again. Being a 6 year old at the time, Sungmin was very gullible and obeyed Seohyun’s order and never told her uncle. She cried and began to wish someone out there would be curious enough to open the door to this tiny shed and save her so she wouldn’t have to live the rest of her life in abuse and pain.

A few months past and it was Sungmin’s birthday. She didn’t expect much because, well, there wasn’t anyone there to celebrate with her. Sungmin was waiting for her uncle to come visit her and leave food for her to eat. He hasn’t came for such a long time now. I haven’t eaten anything for three day. Where could he be? thought Sungmin. Suddenly the door flung open, revealing a man that was obviously not Sungmin’s uncle but a man dressed in black. He looks like a ninja! Keke Sungmin laughed weakly. He ran up to her and said, “Let’s go!” He grabbed her wrist and tried to drag Sungmin out of the shed. But Sungmin fell down to her knees, having no strength because of the lack of food intake. He lifted her up and rushed outside, running towards a helicopter. “Where are you bringing me, sir?” asked Sungmin.

“Back home, to your parents,” he answered, still concentrated on running as fast as possible but not dropping Sungmin in the process. Sungmin shut her eyes and let this strange man carry her away, away from the tiny shed where she had suffered 6 lonely months by herself. The man went onto the helicopter with Sungmin still in his arms and he started yelling instructions to the pilot but Sungmin didn’t hear anything. She had already fallen asleep in his arms.

Sungmin later found out her parents sent Kibum (the strange ninja) to rescue her and had other people arrest her uncle, but it was too late; he had already he committed suicide as he felt that he had done a sin for kidnapping his young, innocent niece. Seohyun had been sent to Korea and be in her mother’s custody. Horrid memories of Seohyun torturing her stayed in her mind, haunting her. Sungmin would wake up in the middle of the night screaming because of the same nightmare that would probably haunt her dreams for the rest of her life.

~*|End of Flashback|*~

“Hey Sungmin, why are you sitting on the floor looking so pathetic?” Seohyun laughed evilly.

“Go away! Get away from me!” yelled Sungmin as she got up and pushed Seohyun away from her. Seohyun, wearing 4 inch high heels, lost her balance and fell into someone’s arms. She turned around and smiled, “Thanks for saving me, Kyuhyunnie-ah.”

“You’re welcome,” said Kyuhyun and he kissed her on the cheek after lifting her to stand up right.

“Hey, Lee Sungmin, why did you push her? That’s not very polite of you.” Sungmin stared at Kyuhyun and Seohyun in disbelief.

“You guys are together!?” she asked in a voice a bit too loud.

“Yah! You don’t have to yell, and yes, me and Seohyun are together. What of it?” Kyuhyun shot back. Leeteuk and Kibum heard Sungmin yell, and ran towards them. Immediately, they stopped after seeing Seohyun standing in front of Sungmin in Kyuhyun’s embrace.

“Yah, Seohyun! Leave her alone. Sungmin-ah, let’s go,” said Kibum as he grabbed Sungmin’s wrist and dragged her towards the van. After watching Kibum and Sungmin disappear into the van, Leeteuk turned back around to Kyuhyun and looked at him from head to toe and back up again. Leeteuk then scrunched up this face in disgust and ran back towards the van, leaving Kyuhyun and Seohyun alone on the streets.

“What was that all about?”asked Kyuhyun.

“I don’t know. I just said hi to her and she pushed me away,” lied Seohyun.

The next day, Ryeowook was preparing breakfast for Henry, Eunhyuk and herself in the kitchen like she always did. But she wasn’t paying her fullest attention to her cooking. Her mind was clouded with worry over why Yesung didn’t go to music class yesterday. They were together walking towards music class until Henry came. He left them so they could be alone in peace and was never seen again. Ryeowook was very worried. What if he got lost? Nah, he’s been attending this school for like a year now. Then, why wasn’t he in music class? “Wookie-ah, you’re going to burn the pancakes,” laughed Henry as he came up from behind and hugged her.

“Ahaha, that would be bad, right Henli?”blushed Ryeowook.

“What are you thinking about, Wookie?” asked Henry.

“Hmm, nothing much. Just was wondering why Jongwoon, I mean Yesung-sshi, didn’t go to music class yesterday,” replied Ryeowook as she placed the pancakes neatly onto a plate and carried it over to the table.

“Maybe he had a schedule to go to,” said Henry coldly.

“Hmm, maybe. Hyukkie-unni! Let’s eat breakfast now or else we will be late for school!” yelled Ryeowook to Eunhyuk who was rushing back and forth from her room to the bathroom, checking up on her hair to make sure it was perfectly curled the way she wanted them to be. “Your hair looks fine, Hyukkie-unni! Don’t worry! Stop being such a perfectionist!” Eunhyuk skipped down the stairs and somehow managed to gracefully sit down on her chair when she was practically flying to the table.

“You seem happy today, Eunhyuk. What’s the occasion?” smiled Henry.

“Hmm? Oh nothing, just got a call from my parents telling me that they were going to visit me once I was settled in and etcetera ,” Eunhyuk replied as she clapped her hands together in excitement.

“Wookie-ah, why do you look so worried? Are you still worried about
Sungmin being mad at us because we didn’t go to her concert yesterday?”

“Huh? What did you say? Oh no, I’m not worried about that. I’m just worried that something might have happened to Jongwoon, I mean Yesung-sshi to make him miss music class yesterday,” replied Ryeowook as she too sat down in her chair and started to eat.

“Oh, don’t have to worry about Yesung-Oppa. Nothing happened to him,” reassured Eunhyuk as she too started to eat her breakfast.

“Hyukkie-unni ah, how would you know for sure?” Ryeowook asked as she looked up at Eunhyuk with huge eyes.

“Because Sungmin texted me after her ending speech, telling me Kyuhyun and Yesung were the two special guests at her concert,” replied back Eunhyuk not even looking up to notice Henry glaring at Ryeowook. “Anyways, thanks for the breakfast Wookie! I got to go and meet up with Onew-Oppa. He promised to show me his favourite Japanese garden last night. See ya later in class!” Eunhyuk got up from the table and danced out the door.

“Wookie-ah, you heard Eunhyuk, he’s fine. Now stop worrying about him,” Henry pouted.

“Aww, Henry! You’re so cute when you pout,” squealed Ryeowook before she covered Henry’s lips with her own.
