Because I Love You
(Sequel to
Reset)
He never knew that getting married was such a tedious task.
Sitting in a secluded corner of the church away from the hustle and bustle occurring around him, Jungsoo took in a deep breath to calm his nerves and dispel his exhaustion. Judging by the events that had occurred for the past month, he could be very sure that planning for a wedding was many times harder than practising non-stop for their comeback. Even though his energy levels were completely depleted by the time the promotional activities came to an end, Jungsoo had temporarily sprang back to life when the company gave him the green light to have his wedding. After all, it had been more than a year since he had proposed to his childhood sweetheart, and he was extremely excited to finally be able to fulfil his lifelong dream to marry her. Furthermore, Jungsoo wanted to grab the chance to have the ceremony before everyone else busied themselves with more activities with their respective new subgroups.
He finally realised that he had an oversimplified view of the things they had to cover before they could get married. His parents and her mother offered to help them out, and put everything into perspective to make his life easier, considering the fact that they were experienced in this field.
Not one person was spared from having a task at hand - he was, of course, the main person handling the entire event with his fiancée and bride-to-be, but he has to admit that wedding planners are God-sent; otherwise he didn't know whether he'd still be alive to go through the wedding ceremony. Heechul and Hankyung clambered to be in charge of the entertainment at the ceremony, dragging Kyuhyun, Ryeowook and Jongwoon along with them. (Actually, Heechul threatened everyone else to give him the job - Hyukjae and Donghee backed down meekly - and then grabbed a very begrudging Hankyung to his side, before using his authority as a hyung on the other three younger males. They had no choice but to obey.)
Youngwoon, Donghae, and Hyukjae took up the role of being Jungsoo's best men, so they didn't quite have to worry about anything until the day of the ceremony - and that's where the stress really began. Donghee was in charge of looking for the best caterer around for the garden party that they were going to have after the official ceremony. Sungmin was the overseer for the church decorations, Siwon was appointed to be the pastor for the event, and Kibum was supposed to handle the guest list. Of course, the boys didn't begrudge the tasks at all - they would do anything to make the day as perfect as possible for both Jungsoo and Angie, after all - and Jungsoo was very thankful for that. They had somehow got through all the preparation stages, and it was finally the day.
"Hyung, what are you doing here all alone? It's almost time for the ceremony! You have to get ready!" Hyukjae's voice cut through Jungsoo's tired thoughts, causing the older male to look up at the former. Before the man of the day could even cook up a reply, one of the make-up noonas from the company walked over and fussed around him, saying that he should stop rubbing his face because it would remove the foundation that they had put on his face.
"But noona, shouldn't you be focusing on my wife more instead of me? Are you trying to make me rival her beauty?" he joked, grinning innocently up at the lady who was currently applying the final touches on his face.
"Don't worry, Leeteuk-sshi. We'll work on her make-up once she gets here, so rest assured that you'll have the most beautiful bride around," she smiled, shaking her head in amusement at his words. "Besides, she's already pretty enough, so there's not much to be done either."
"I like the sound of that," he grinned again, but his expression took a 180-degree turn when he finally processed every single thing that the make-up noona had said. "Wait, what do you mean by 'when she gets here'? Angie's not here yet? Shouldn't she be at the waiting room by now?" he exclaimed, head snapping in Hyukjae's direction.
The younger male grinned sheepishly, rubbing the back of his head at the questioning look that his hyung had shot at him. "Well… I was about to tell you that…" he muttered, but that was more than enough to make Jungsoo go ballistic.
"Where is she? Wasn't Youngwoon supposed to be the one to escort her here? Where is he? Have you tried calling him?" The words rolled off Jungsoo's tongue at an incredible speed, and Hyukjae had a hard time catching up with what the older male was trying to say.
Once he was able to digest the words, he found Jungsoo looking at him expectantly; Hyukjae blinked away the confusion and gave the older male the reply that he was waiting for. "Well, I did try calling Kangin hyung, but I couldn't get through his phone. I keep getting redirected to his voice mail," he explained. If at all possible, Jungsoo turned a shade paler than he used to be, panic written all over his face at the information he had just received. It took the Super Junior leader all but five seconds to officially freak out.
"Where's my phone? I need to call Angie! Oh lord, please tell me this is not happening!" he rambled off once again, frantically overturning his pockets to look for the device, stopping only when someone placed a firm grip on his shoulder. He whirled around to find Donghae looking back at him.
"Teukkie hyung, we've tried calling her. Same luck with Kangin hyung's phone," Donghae informed him calmly, only to receive a nudge to the side from Hyukjae. The younger male narrowed his eyes darkly at his friend, seeking an explanation for his actions.
"Why did you do that for, Hae? You know that's going to make him panic even more!" Hyukjae hissed under his breath, only to yelp in shock when Jungsoo suddenly grabbed him and Donghae by their shoulders.
"What on earth are you guys doing? It's almost time for the ceremony to start, and Angie's not even here yet? Did Youngwoon kidnap her off so that he could have her for himself? Or did she decide that she didn't want to marry me?" Jungsoo said again, gasping when the final line sank in. "Oh God, she did, didn't she? She ran off without telling me because of that incident?"
Jongwoon, who was looking on from the sides with amusement at the whole event, decided to cut in when he figured out that their leader was getting a little too out of control with his hyperactive imagination. "Hyung, stop scaring yourself. And stop embarrassing the rest of us. Even though this is a private ceremony with no fans nor members of the media present, you're still in a chapel with everyone else looking at you," he said, rapping Jungsoo's head lightly with his knuckles before pointing discreetly at the silent whispers being exchanged between the guests. Jungsoo calmed down considerably after that, causing both Hyukjae and Donghae to thank him silently for putting a leash on their leader's behaviour.
"Hyung!" a familiar voice suddenly yelled from the direction of the entrance, causing everyone's heads - including those of the guests - to turn towards none other than Youngwoon, who was trying hard to catch his breath. When he realised that every single pair of eyes in the room were focused on him, Youngwoon immediately bowed apologetically to them for causing such a huge commotion, before walking hastily in the direction of the altar, where Jungsoo, Jongwoon, Hyukjae and Donghae were standing at.
Before Youngwoon could even reach his intended destination, Jungsoo was already a step ahead, pulling the younger male hastily towards him. The younger male stumbled a little at the sudden pulling force, but straightened himself soon after. "Youngwoon, where's Angie? Please tell me that she's here," Jungsoo whispered urgently to the younger male, not really able to hide his anxiety.
However, it took Jungsoo only one look at Kangin's face to know that there was bad news, because his expression was rather sullen. Youngwoon was about to open his mouth to convey the message to Jungsoo, but before the younger male could even get a single word off his tongue, Jungsoo had already raised a hand to stop him. The latter's expression was no longer cheerful; instead, he was on the brink of tears - the moisture at the corner of his eyes were enough to tell the whole story.
After all that they had been through, Jungsoo thought that they would be together for good. He certainly did not expect her to just leave on the most important day of their lives without any notice nor last words. What's more, Jungsoo couldn't help but wonder why Angie didn't actually put her insecurities on the table and discuss it with him - if he knew that she didn't want to get married so soon, he would have gladly pushed the dates back to whenever she wanted it to be on. But now… he was about to have his photos splashed across the Entertainment section of major newspapers, with the title of "Super Junior Leeteuk's fiancée walked out on their wedding ceremony" emblazoned across the top. Yet another source of public ridicule, no doubt.
Sighing, Jungsoo inhaled deeply, turning around in order to face the crowd for the first time since Youngwoon had entered the chapel. He was slowly piecing the words together in his mind, and was about to announce that the wedding was off when the melodious voices of Kyuhyun, Ryeowook and Jongwoon singing the acapella version of Marry U reverberated through the air, along with joyous whispers from the crowd. Jungsoo's head snapped up in the direction of the entrance to the chapel, only to find his bride smiling brightly at him under her veil. Confused, he whirled around to seek an explanation from Youngwoon, Hyukjae and Donghae, only to find them flashing a cheeky smile and a peace sign at him. That was when he realised that they were just playing a trick on him, but in spite of his annoyance, a wide smile spread across his face when Angie slowly made her way down the aisle towards him.
"Mind telling me why you were looking so sad just a moment ago?" Angie whispered to Jungsoo once they turned to face the altar after they had linked their arms together, though the amusement was thick in her voice.
"Long story," he replied simply, the broad grin still plastered on his face. Angie looked at him curiously for a short moment, before deciding that she would bring the question up once again after they had exchanged their vows. The latter was the most important thing of the day, after all.
As Siwon started reciting the lines under the guidance of a fully-qualified pastor, Jungsoo gradually strengthened his grip on Angie's petite hand, a proud smile on his face. This was it - the final ritual that would bond them together for the rest of their lives. With a resounding "I do" from the both of them, the guests in the chapel broke out in a loud cheer, congratulating the happy couple on their union.

"You what?" Angie exclaimed indignantly when Donghae had finished recounting the incident before the wedding march started to her, on Jungsoo's behalf. They were currently seated in the garden behind the church, happily chatting away with the other Super Junior members as they enjoyed their food after the newly-wedded couple had gone on their rounds to greet their guests and thank them for taking their time out to attend their wedding.
"Well… Hae has said everything there is to the entire matter…" Jungsoo grinned sheepishly, and immediately blocked a playful hit from Angie at his confirmation.
"I still can't believe that you actually thought that I wouldn't turn up for the ceremony," she pouted, crossing her arms in front of her chest and turned away from her husband. Jungsoo panicked at her actions, thinking that she was really upset at his apparent lack of faith, and immediately hugged her around the middle, cuddling up to her in hopes that he could dissipate her anger.
"Aww, c'mon… I didn't know that they were playing a trick on me," he explained.
"It's your own fault for being so gullible, hyung," Youngwoon reminded him. The younger male deftly dodged the napkin that was hurled in his direction by Jungsoo, flashing him a peace sign that was accompanied by a cheeky grin when he straightened himself up. However, little did he know that Jungsoo had another weapon in hand, and that second projectile successfully connected with the middle of his head, eliciting roars of laughter of everyone seated at the table.
"He's right, baby. Couldn't you have a little more faith in your wife?" Angie huffed back when she was done laughing at Youngwoon's mishap, and tried her best not to burst out into laughter again when Jungsoo's expression completely changed. . She was thoroughly amused with the entire incident, although she had expected nothing less from the Super Junior boys. They were, after all, known for playing pranks on one another regardless of the situation. And of course, she couldn't resist teasing her newly-wedded husband further - but he didn't have to know about her intentions.
"I'm only that worried because I didn't want to lose you again baby. You know how important you are to me," he started, duly ignoring the playful shudders from the boys. Slowly, his hand inched towards hers which were rested on her lap and picked it up gently before turning it from side to side, allowing the diamond ring to shine gracefully under the sunlight. "This is enough proof of it," he concluded, soft enough for only her to catch on.
"What? The value of my importance is as high as that of a diamond ring?" she asked, although she knew perfectly what his words meant. Angie merely wanted him to spell out his thoughts, just so she could find out whether they were on the same channel. A broad smile formed on her lips a split second later, before she planted a deep kiss on his lips after he had clarified it the way she wanted him to.
"No, it's because I love you, with all my heart and soul."
