it wasn't the first time (i really don't remember the first time, i assume i just watched tv and had a snack until my brother got home or something), but my friend jayne and i were often home by ourselves. one time my mom came home to find that we'd dragged out the ultra-slippery cold-weather sleeping bags (we had four) and had placed two of them unzipped on the top flight of stairs and on the landing for the front door of our house, and were curling up in the bottom of the (still zipped up) others, and then sliding own the stairs to see who could crash into the front door the hardest.
another time we were in the back yard, playing in the playhouse my parents had built on top of a storage shed. my playhouse had a balcony with a square hole cut into it for the ladder up. we had a big floor pillow on the deck at the bottom of the ladder and were using those same slippery sleeping bags. we got inside a sleeping bag and jumped through the hole, trying to land on the pillow. with just the one pillow, it was a hard landing, so we ended up getting another floor pillow and the other two sleeping bags to cushion us. the landing was much softer, unless we missed. although, half the fun was hitting, then sliding off because the sleeping bags were so slippery.
amazingly. we have both turned into reasonably intelligent adults.......go figure.
