YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
I had never seen So You Think You Can Dance until last season. I thought it was remotely kind of interesting and that it was worth watching. So I started watching this season. And at first I kept hearing from everyone on the show how "SYTCD has done SO much for dancing and the dancing community" and I'm like, well yeah! Providing kids with exposure and experience and jobs, sure!
WRONG!
What SYTCD has done is turn dancing into an AI shitfest! Now people everywhere (in ontd lol) think they know what a good dancer is, what good choreography is... I mean. GIVE ME A FUCKING BREAK!
And, yes this rant is caused by Evan.
Why because I don't really feel like bitching out to ONTD about how versatility is not the same as quality. The best dancers can't dance it all. Anyone who's seen Ethan Stiefel hip hoping knows what I mean (and by this I mean you,
sidewalk_doctor)! And why does everyone suddenly seem to think, that stronger, more physically powerful dancers are better?! Heathus Christ! Hasn't any of these dumbasses seen "Born to be Wild"? (What are you saying, self? OF COURSE NOT!) Out of those 4 best dancers of our time, only 1 is a power dancer... Geez!
While on the subject, I fail to see what is so amazing about Brandon! I can't! He lacks grace and delicacy and elegance and soul! Yes, he is a power dancer, and yes he can pull of tricks and other impressing shit. But impressive is not the same as good. Strong is not the same as good. He is rough, and sometimes way too tough on moves that could be more extended and delicate. He lacks some resilience, his movement is way too sharp sometimes and that throws me off.
He is also cocky and obnoxious onstage. Many many dancers are cocky and obnoxious off stage, but to appear obnoxious and cocky onstage.. man that's gotta take some effort!
I'm already bored with that rant, so I won't even go into the girls, but man, oh man... Kayla better not win!
