School Bans Tag for Fear of Lawsuits This irks me. I mean, it's one thing when they banned Red Rover because little kids were legitimately being hurt when they got clotheslined (as hilarious as that was)...but banning tag because the school might get sued if Little Johnny falls down? Sounds like common sense homicide once again.
Falling down and going 'boom' is a important lesson for kids. It teaches them not to fall down. Or at least, teaches them to fall in a way that won't hurt as much. And isn't that they way we learn a lot of things? When we do something stupid when we're kids we learn from the fact that it ends up with a bad result, be it grounding, a hospital trip, or whatever.
If I ever have kids, they're going to fall down and scrape their knees until they learn not to. If they cry I'll be comforting, yes, but it's not like I'm not going to sue the playground either.
