In you I saw another life
To cook with four hands instead of two
But you can’t want what you can plainly have
My mistake was in trust, yours in belief
The gear grease and my kitchen knife
Salad, walks not taken in Vedawou
Clean sheets, tea kettles, juice and a quick shave
Earrings (mine and yours), a day-lily leaf
Dreamed you, some summer-time wife
Bruised, deconstructed pasts with you
Revived some, slid others to the grave
Mixing glaze was harder, weighted by grief.
