Awaking

Last night I insomnia found me laying on the cold tile floor of the lanai, looking for meteors at 4am.  In the name of comfort, I blew up an air mattress and set a few pillows and a blanket aside for tonight.  Being sleepy from the night before, I found myself dozing off.  I awoke momentarily to my husbands admonitions regarding my endeavor.

This got me thinking of the strange places that I have awoken in the past.  Keep in mind that I am a quick and deep sleeper.

I remember being tired at a party and curling up under the coat pile because it was warm and so I wouldn't be forgotten.  Turns out the house had been raided whilst I slept.  I woke up in the morning to an empty home.  I found my coat and walked home.

I have woken about 10 feet from a cemetery fence in the forest.  A couple of friends and myself had gone on a long and tiring treck through the forest, and thought it would be nice and peaceful to rest by the cemetery.  I of course, fell immediately to sleep.  My friends, having gotten bored, wandered off for a little bit.  I awoke in the dark, alone, with a fine view of tombstones.  I was too afraid to move for at least 30 minutes.

I have awoken in a tree...the Monkey Tree, to b exact.  Yes, I did this intentionally.  Nobody I know has ever fallen from the Monkey Tree.

I have woken in many other unusual places, but those are my favorites.
