The two-week shutdown my workplace has imposed upon us is already nearly over. It's already Friday of the second week and I'll be due back into work Wednesday night. Two weeks ago, I had that five day, sixty hour work week. It felt like I had no time to recuperate from the preceding work week when I was already back. Ryan made it to Ohio just fine on Monday. Since then, it's been a rather calm and quiet place, as I expected. Ryan's cat, Dakota, has been a grump. Alrighty! So I'm back home with my family for the first time since May 2nd. It's the longest I've been away since my 2005 country-wide road trip. It feels really weird to be back here, almost like I'm a guest as opposed to an occupant. Everything seems larger and I seem smaller. Well, with Christmas only days away, all kinds of madness has suddenly happened. Tuesday night, while I was driving to my sister's place, Penguin, my vehicle and only mode of transportation, suddenly and without warning died on the road. Last Saturday night, just as Ryan and I were packing the last of our bags for the road trip, it was discovered that his car's air conditioning unit was dry and refilling it required a cable my dad had lent to one of his friends.
