Scarlett at Three Months / First Father's Day / Scarlett Gets Visitors / Yard Work

Another late entry but that's how it goes. Here's the June update!

Scarlett is three-and-a-half months old and growing like a weed. She's also starting to really interact with the world: Grabbing and holding onto things and bringing toys to her mouth. She's also begun laughing and giggling, which is delightful. In a few weeks will be her four-month check-in where we'll get to learn how much she's grown in the last two months. Really looking forward to that. But yeah, her progress has been amazing and she seems to be thriving!

My first father's day as a father was pretty laid back! Didn't really do anything too crazy but acknowledging the day is still so hard to believe. But with each passing day, I feel like we're got this. Nicole and I have really gotten into a pretty solid daily routine with Scarlett. Every morning, I'm up with the little girl early which gives Nicole a few extra hours of sleep. Then, when I'm off to work, Nicole takes over. In the evenings, we're on our way to bed around 9 PM and the cycle repeats. It might sound monotonous or boring, but seeing the progress Scarlett is making and watching her really begin to connect with us makes it worth it.

In early June, we hosted Nicole's friend, Abby, along with her three young daughters. It was Abby and Scarlett's first chance to meet each other and it was a whirl. All these girls running around fawning over each other for a weekend was a trip but everyone had a good time and it was kind of surreal watching Abby's toddlers carry our baby around. Good times. Then late in the month, Nicole's parents visited for a little over a week. This was the second time they've been up here since the birth, and it was a great opportunity to have a little company and help around the house. Their visit coincided with a shutdown-week at my workplace, which worked out perfectly.

While the women tended to the little girl, Nicole's father and I spent most of the week working on home improvement projects and yard work. I cut several limbs from trees around the property and both of us reinforced the fence using T-Posts. Not the greatest way to solidify a fence, but the alternative might have been to redo the anchor posts (Which is time consuming) or to just rip out everything and redo the whole fence all around the property from scratch (Which would be expensive). But that's what makes being handy with home improvement so important: we're saving cash and getting things done. One day perhaps a few years from now, maybe I will redo the fence, but like so many things around here, it'll do for now and it's really not worth worrying about.

Life is going smoothly!
