So I've been back home here in Portland for a little under two weeks already and I've fairly well fallen back into the groove I'm normally riding. I've been getting back to selling things online and hassling with stupid customers as usual. Always the stupid customers.
My Geo is back on the road full time now. In my last entry as well as entries for several months now, I've mentioned that my car has been acting funny and became hard to start to the point where I barely used the machine for fear of getting stranded somewhere. The whole time I was in Boise--four weeks--I probably used my car twice. It worked out since Jaci had left her job and we had three solid weeks together, but in the back of my mind I knew I had to pray I made it home and then that I could figure out what's wrong with the car. Towards the end of my time in Boise, after talking with several people about it, I began to believe it was a simple problem with the wrong kind of oil in the car's engine. Back in February when I did my oil last, my dad had a bunch of oil of a thinner variety than I normally put in and, to save money on oil, I decided to put it in. That's when all the trouble started.
When I got back here, one of the first things I did (After thanking whatever deity allowed for my successful return home without the car stalling on me somewhere) was change out the car's oil and put in the thicker variety I typically use. That did the trick! Now the car starts up better and it runs cooler. Looks like my car shouldn't ever be running that thin crap again. Good to know. So I'm back on the road once again.
Over the last few days and for the next week or so, Portland is experiencing a fun little July heat wave with temperatures approaching 100 F (38 C). These heat waves are always intriguing because people watching becomes more interesting. In the evenings, it seems there's hundreds of people milling about while during the day, it's dead silent and no one is on the road. It's pretty quiet too, except for the sounds of air conditioners around the neighborhood.
Yea, things are pretty much back to normal. I've had a lot of local friends bug me to visit them and help out for things so It'll be a busy July. It's summer so the parents are out in the yard and dragging Ryan and me along, so it's like every summer around here. Even the Fourth of July was tame: A simple family BBQ and a cozy quiet evening.
