Another Switch

Happy Pi Day! It's also National Potato Chip Day! Woo!

In other news, my never-ending unemployment continues. I got my very last unemployment disbursement today, meaning that my six months of unemployment benefits are over. I wasn't getting very much to start with, but now that it's done, my last option for coasting to find a great job is over. I've got what's left in my bank account to coast on before I'll have to buckle down and take a job far beneath my accreditation. I figure I've got two months worth of savings left to find a job in my career field before something gives.

In the mean time, I've been busy working on learning some filmmaking software. After learning lots about Final Cut Pro while working on "Those Abandoned", I've now learned how to make DVD's from scratch. I've made DVD's before for my road trip DVD and even "Imaginings" from back in 2002, but for those I used a simple drag-and-drop DVD authoring program that didn't have many features. For "Those Abandoned" I wanted to do more. One thing was having multiple audio tracks in the movie for commentary tracks. Just about every movie released on DVD these days has feature-length commentary by someone in the highest echelon of the production; typically the director. For my movie, I have 6 separate commentary tracks featuring everyone who worked on the movie. To put it all together, I had to learn how to make DVD's from scratch using industry standard software on my Mac. Time to pad my resume!

Also, it looks like there's more mayhem over at On The Lot. They've pushed the premiere date forward from Wednesday, May 16th, to Tuesday, May 22nd. No reason given. The rumors have calmed down on the message boards as to when things in the states will gear up. I still have a shot. When I hear anything, I'm sure one of two things will happen: 1) I'll immediately say something (Positive or negative) on my journal, or 2) I won't be able, because of some agreement, to say anything. Who knows.
