Fall Enters Stage Left / Writing Up A 15,000-Word Storm

"You wish you could dream but forgot to somehow..."

It's 52 degrees outside and raining. Grey and dim, this is the first day in half a year with weather that many of my purist-Oregonian friends would say is perfect weather for a run with no umbrella or a long drive with all the windows down. Yea, I guess it's the thing to do here in the frontier, to worship the rain. I'll come around to this weather soon enough (I do have this jacket I love wearing in all crappy weather) but after many solid months of blue sky and mid-70's temperatures, it's a tiny bit of a shock to me. Fall/Winter is upon us! Can't leave the window open all night and the ceiling fan in my room stays off.

So on Friday I called up the station I've been hoping to get a job at and, wouldn't you know it, I got voicemail. I left a message with my info so I'm hoping someone will appear Monday, hear the message, slap their forehead in self-disgust and hop on the phone to at least tell me what is taking so long with the interview process. I'll even accept being told to get lost and that a job isn't happening so long as someone tells me something so I can relax. The suspense is killing me. It's like waiting for Christmas but they keep pushing the day back further and further.

To keep me sane, I've begun writing. kimihope and I discovered a common interest in a certain genre of fantasy and she commissioned me to write a story involving her personally. It was originally supposed to be a 3,000-word short-story but it's blossomed into a three-chapter, 15,000-word epic tale. To escape the suspense of waiting for a phone call back from KTVZ, I've poured myself into writing her this story and I guess you could say it shows. It's given me comfort and Kimi seems flattered at what she's read so far. It's good to have someone tell me I've got talents and artistic skill. Now if only I could get a certain TV station to pay me for them...

sassylilscorpio, your birthday is coming up and I have a copy of my road trip DVD to mail you as my gift! I'm fairly sure you still wanted a copy! You'll have to hop on AIM at some point and send me an address I can mail this to. Don't worry, I'll send you the Vegas beads too if you still want them ;)

winter, writing, unemployment
