I voted original fiction :)

But if you want to write about your road trip, make up a character (like a rabbit, ha ha) and write it from his perspective. With slight changes to things for a rabbit point of view (eg food, travel, rabbit words for things).

I'd still like to write about the road trip and if I can start messing with the reality, I can do things I never had happen in real life. I'll be able to have more freedom with the truth.

I saw write about the road trip--and you can fictionalize it if you like. And if you're unable to finish it for November, just continue writing it and tweak it (or don't tweak it) as you see fit. My friend mortal_belleza writes for the NaNoWriMo contest too.

I'm getting more and more excited about fictionalizing the road trip. I can start with a base about how I was laid off, got disillusioned and set out on the open road. But I think I'll inject loads more strife and conflict. Maybe I'll even have some characters follow me or maybe I'll pick up a lost soul. I'll definitely end up places I didn't expect and this will give me the freedom to have a climax and ending worthy of reading. It's either that or I write a space fiction about a starship witnessing the death of the very last star in the universe billions of years from now. That would be intriguing as well!
