I've spent a good chunk of today working on my journal. I've
added tags for all my 2006 entries and I've got this
nice new layout. I've cleaned up my
photo gallery and updated my
profile. I've even got some new userpics to show off!
Okay, I've had a creative streak. I'll go back to being a raging sarcasm machine soon enough. But today I found a couple useful Buster Bunny images on the web and, as part of my ongoing quest to have an obscene amount of polished Tiny Toon character artwork on my journal, I needed to make icons out of them. But I've never had to do so much work to get them to a place where they looked professionally polished to the standards I've honed from my graphical arts college degree. To save everyone's friends list, I've put the images and the rest of this entry behind this LJ cut.
Here are my two newest userpics with a comparison on the right between the original image I had to work with versus what I churned out-
As you can see, it took an incredible amount of work to re-ink and tone the entire image and add weight to lines and really bring out the image. But what's this? What the heck happened to Babs, you ask? Well, she was in the way. The edge of the icon itself would have gone right through her face and so I had to invent half the umbrella and the beach.
This one could be my newest masterpiece. Look at how terrible the original image (at right) is. After painstakingly retracing the whole rabbit, I decided to add all kinds of RAD lighting effects and even a shadow behind him.
The scene from the second new icon is from an episode where an ominous force speaks to him, "Well well, Buster Bunny..." and Buster replies, "Dat's my name. Don't wear it out!" which is what he's saying in the image. So he's not yelling, he's not yawning, he's hamming it up.
