Friday and today at work I was asked to "purge" old patient charts for the office. Every year, all the charts that we no longer legally need to keep need to be pulled and sent off to the document shredder people. It would have been a simple matter of pulling the charts and making a big pile except for them wanting to keep every chart's tab dividers to reuse in new patient charts. This process of fishing out the tabs from every chart took forever. My shoulder has been killing me all day because of the repetitive motions. Ugh. But it was a welcome change from the typical office paper-running. I was able to sit in a quiet room and listen to my iPod all day. It was peaceful and calming. Now that I'm done though, it'll be back to the races in the front office tomorrow.
But, the end of the tunnel is in sight. The lady I'm sorta filling in for while she's out on maternity leave began that leave this weekend. The day she returns in 3 months will be my last day at CCA unless they decide to find a more media-related position for me as well as give me full employment and benefits. I don't see that happening as long as they have their silly archaic "no two close relatives can be employed here" policy. It may have made sense when it was thought up a thousand years ago and even apply quite well in some situations, but it's flawed. Equal opportunity employer my ass.
On a whim, I was able to get out to Tigard to meet with one of my college roommates, Adam. Yea, I know that I'm Adam, but this is another Adam. So two Adams. Watch out. Anyway, He has a nice bachelor pad perfect for tiny movie nights and what not. I went out there this evening to catch up on what he's been up to and to see his apartment in it's completely organized state. It was great to hang out again, like good old times back at college. At one point, it felt like no time had passed between when we were all relaxing back at EOU and now, talking about work around his dinner table. I also just got some email from other local college buddies, so maybe this is the beginning of a steady stream of meetings and reconnections with the people who made my college experience memorable. And the weekend of the 8th, I'll be in Boise with Jaci talking all about the possibilities so hopefully I'll come back with more answers and less pressure.
Damn it. The fourth is coming up and I have me gots none fireworkz. For the first time since I can remember existing, we may not have a family firework's show this year. My brother, who usually instigates the extravagant shows, is in Minnesota this year. Plus, with the fourth falling on a week night, I'll have to be at work bright eyed and bushy tailed the next morning. Thank GOD it'll be a three day weekend though. Crazy.
Ohh yea, and go see
Land of the Dead. It was plenty good, if you like those kinds of character-driven end-of-the-world horror films. I loves me my
zombie movies.
