Ooh, look, posting on LJ! Kind of a novel concept at this point. Oops.

Anyways, this post is about ex-Kanju. Feel free to continue if you care:

So Kunta released his first solo single on March 25th.
First of all, you can order it here: http://kunta.thebase.in/items/1331746
Or download it here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/she-devil-single/id970440333

And you should! Because it's a lot of fun. :D

Kunta has been traveling around doing mini-lives all over for promotion. I was able to get to one last week in Saitama, which was rather awkward, but it was really nice to see him again. It's been a while since the last time I saw him, at his live last year, and while he seemed kind of confused by my presence last year, this time he seemed less so. The live was held outdoors on a small stage with just three rows of benches in front (and they didn't fill up). But he was adorable.

I admire that he's trying really hard to make something of himself, even though it must be really tough being an ex-junior. He was in Johnnys for what, 11 years? And always in groups and surrounded by other people, and now he's pretty much alone. But he's clearly trying really hard. That kind of fighting spirit is what first caught my attention and made me want to support him, and it's why I'll continue.

I went to another in-store live yesterday, which was a teeeeeeny little space in the corner of Tower Records, but there was a couple dozen fans packed in and it was better than in Saitama. He's still clearly figuring out how to MC now that he's alone, and I think the fact that pretty much all his fans are Johnnys fan-mold makes it difficult. I wonder if it's easier in Osaka? I'm sure he's got a bigger base there.

Today I went to a live in Harajuku that has multiple artists.
三浦涼介, who is extremely androgynous. A decent singer and dancer, and once he broke out of his cool act toward the end and started laughing, actually kind of adorable. Not someone I'd follow, though.

BRIDGET, who reminded me of idk, Exile, maybe, and kpop, and just not at ALL my thing, although they were clearly the big draw of the night, with the most fans. Meh.

AFTER ROMEO, who are an American boyband from LA, and I enjoyed the quite a lot actually. I am a pop girl at heart. I always loved BSB, NSync, Savage Garden, 98°, Hanson, etc. Never cared about the people, but that's my music. So these guys were right there with their sound. Great performers. Can't say I would care much about them as people, as they don't really sound super interesting from their profiles (a lot of eye-rolly stuff), but musically talented. Although they tried to speak Japanese a bunch of times and while I give them credit for trying, the pronunciation was atrocious it was nearly impossible to understand anything other than ありがとう。Also, they really needed to stay on the stage. >_>

ブレイク☆スルー, which is Gakki and Ryoya's band. I totally did not realize it AT ALL while watching them. Kunta watched the whole time and did some of their hand furi, and they mentioned him, but I missed the first song and walked in right as they did, so I'm not sure what they said. Didn't make the connection. But I felt they looked familiar and like Johnnys, and said as much to my friend, and it STILL DIDN'T CLICK. Even when they said member names, all I could hear was Ryoya and STILL. Nothing. Their band was SUPER FUN. I would totally go to their stuff!

Afterward in the lobby I saw someone carrying a sign that said 新垣 and was like OH! as everything suddenly fell into place and then I felt really dumb. ORZ Gakki's hair (wig?) is atrocious. But anyways, fun! I really liked the group.

Hung out with Kunta afterward, posed for a silly pic (although not as silly as the stuff this one other girl always asks him to do). He (and his manager) both know who I am now, at least. Although today I was like, "Do you know my name? You don't, do you?" To which Kunta was like I TOTALLY DO. And proceeded to think and think and was like "well, I know I did and it's in my head somewhere... I'M SORRY!"
So I told him and he was all Rei-san, to which my friend was like CALL HER REI-CHAN. Omg no ahahaha, that seems so weird from Kunta, which I said no, don't, but he was laughing so idek. Also at one point while we were chatting he said something but did the sort of Kunta-sama pose, so of COURSE I was like, "ah, Kunta-sama!" at him (not with the full high-pitch and wiggle, but still) because HOW CAN YOU NOT? And he laughed and was all 恥ずかしい〜 about it. XD Was super cute.

I'm still not at all used to the fact that I can TALK to him. XD;

Also, when he takes pictures with people, instead of the awkward standing side-by-side thing, he actually puts his arm around people to pull them closer. I was not at all expecting that the first time and I was kind of !!! about the fact that he put his hand around my waist to grab my hip and pull me against his side. O_o Totally don't usually get touched by people, so it caught me off guard. But yeah, anyways.

I randomly ran into a friend at the Tower Record live, and she's also Nika-tan, but she likes a bunch of people and is kind of... drifting at the moment since she hasn't been able to see Nika in over a year. She said she feels like going to see Kunta is like cheating. XD; I don't at all feel that way, but Kunta is more the adorable little brother figure. I feel much more comfortable talking with him and whatnot. Nika... yeah. Nika is Nika, and my brain tends to shut down when I'm around him because a;sldkfja;sldjfa;skdj. So NOT AT ALL THE SAME. And therefore, not cheating~ ;)

So Kunta is hoping to sell 5,000 copies of his single. I have no idea if that's possible, but help him out if you are so inclined.

He sang two new songs tonight, both of which are good, but one of which I LOVED and I want it on CD right away. I hope this means there's a second single in the works, or at least a digital release or SOMETHING. I hope I can go see him again soon.

Might have to consider Gakki's group too, because FUN. Also we お疲れ-ed them as we left and they called out to us in English, like goodbye, see you, thank you, please come next time, etc. Huh! Well, I very well might. :)

Thanks for a fun evening, everyone!

頑張れ、薫太様!

...it feels weird to use a kanju tag for this, because there are VERY few kanju that I know anymore. Matori, Bun... is Ryuta still around? Idek. I'm done with Kanju I guess. Almost everyone I cared about has either quit or debuted, pretty much. But that's okay. They all moved on, and so have I. Might have to retire this tag and create new ones. In fact, here. Let's make one for Kunta. No idea how much it'll get used, since my LJ use is practically nothing, but let's give it a shot.

concert/show/event, kanju, kunta, it really happened
