To counteract Hopeless...

Hopeful

It could never be as he wanted.

Waspinator wasn’t stupid enough to believe otherwise; nor was he optimistic enough to believe he could possibly change anything. He hated it, but he accepted it as the miserable truth, because he’d long since realized there was no point in wishing for things that weren’t meant to be.

He knew Megatron would always stand between them, even though he wasn’t even physically present in Flamingo Heights.

There was no way he could convince his partner that the insane megalomaniac had betrayed him. Inferno would never allow himself to believe that his Queen had, ironically, decimated him in blazing, fiery blast; to think such things about Megatron was blasphemous, if you asked the ant.

They never talked about it, but Waspinator was smart enough to figure out on his own that Inferno held back because of his loyalty to their renegade leader. His faith in Megatron was unwavering; he still believed that someday -someday- the dragon would return for him.

It was hopeless. The glitches and errors that made Inferno more ant than robot would no more be repaired than the vocal glitches Waspinator had come online with. Megatron would still make Waspinator’s life miserable, and he didn’t even know it.

But…There were times…

It was the way Inferno tried to protect him; to keep him safe from harm. The way he never seemed to mean any of the insults he so cruelly spat out. The way he had worried when Waspinator had wandered away from the mall and how relieved he’d seemed when they were reunited. The way they slept when they suddenly found themselves organic; the feel of intense burning desire when Inferno touched him…The way Inferno kissed him…

It was moments like those that left Waspinator uncertain about what he believed to be true. Maybe, just maybe…

Sometimes, hoping didn’t seem so futile.
