Fifi just hopped up in my lap, did a little fart, and then jumped back down. hee!
she was such a frightened, skitty thing when we found her. it is so nice to see her all sassy. her kitten Possum is the most curious, fearless booger, and now that Fifi has emerged from under the furniture we can see where he gets it. Fifi was peering very worriedly into the bathtub while i soaked yesterday afternoon. she kept getting closer...closer...craning her neck...narrowing her eyes...closer...and finally i realized i'd better get the hell out of that tub unless i wanted to be in it with 8 pounds of yowling, scratching cat.
when we got home from thanksgiving i got so many head bumps as i cleaned the litterbox. we were only gone for a day, but they were so happy to see us. Fifi especially just melts my heart. we couldn't have ended up with lovelier pets than these two.
people who dump animals should go to jail. people who dump a 1 year old unspayed cat still nursing her three baby kittens in the middle of a houston summer should be locked outside with no money or water to starve with their children. people who live across the street who see this happen and who only take two of the kittens and leave the other one to die with his mother should have their ears boxed. bless the poor animals who have to depend on such wretched human bastards to care for them.
if you want a pet, please adopt one from the SPCA. the SPCA runs nonprofit no-kill shelters and they are always just teeming with animals. it's true that some of the animals are sick or have behavior problems, but most of the SPCA animals are just stuck there when their families decide a pet is inconvenient. i see so many cats when i help with adoptions who have wonderful friendly natures, love the human attention but need a good home. you can find a great pet at the SPCA, all up to date on vaccinations plus desexed, for only about $75. $75 is a bargain, especially for a grown animal who will only need yearly maintenance vaccines and a flea treatment revolution to stay healthy. www.petfinder.org is a great place to start finding pictures of available pets in your area.
yes, homeless pets are my soapbox issue!
