Saddening news
I'm saddened to know that a few days back, three punk ass kids (age ~13) decided it would be fun to go jump the fence at the Long Beach Aquarium and torture and kill some of the sharks. A velvety black cow-nose ray was found on the concrete next to the touch pool. A 2' long stripped bamboo shark was found on the mesh overhang of the bird exhibit next door to the shark lagoon. A 3' chocolate brown nurse shark was found in the bushes by the parking lot. (She had been dragged over rocks, dirt, bushes, etc) Most of them had been left out of water to suffocate, they had also been stabbed or poked with plastic pipes. Another leopard shark had sustained injuries (by blows from a pipe), and many of the little sharks had been tossed into the large shark tank (where luckily none were eaten).
Well, they caught these punk ass juveniles who tried to come back the next night to continue this horrific killing. Well, they aren't going to charge them with anything, but instead want to "talk" with them and see why this happened and why they did it. Bull-shit... I say beat them to a bloody pulp!!!! I would soooo disown that kid if they were mine. Regardless if they were sharks or not. Killing of animals leads to serial killers.... grrrrr.....
