How I (almost) got into trouble... silly ice

Mar 10, 2007 21:43

So tonight, as I was leaving work, I was distracted and didn't notice there was a patch of ice on the sidewalk in front of me - needless to say, I slipped. I did manage to catch myself but as I did so, I bumped the bumper of a car next to me... oops. However, no damage was done and all was well.

...Until the car alarm went off.

Of course, there happened to be two people walking down the sidewalk at the same time. And, of course, this happened to be one of the loudest and most obnoxious car alarms that I've ever heard in my life.

So I froze while the two people laughed at me, quickly wondered what I could do to remedy the situation, and decided there was no way to find whoever's car it was. So I started walking away after gesturing to the couple laughing that I had no idea what to do but leave.

And, of course, that's when a cop happened to drive by.
No joke.

Regardless, I almost wish I could say that the cop got involved and asked what was going on. Almost. In the end though, I lucked out and he just nodded my way and kept on driving. With a huge sigh of relief I took two more steps and the lovely car alarm (really, I swear to you it was beyond obnoxious, it had every alarm sound under the sun...) turned off.

Yaay clumsi-osity!
