I never like Megstiel.
If you're going to read this, that is the first thing you need to know. I never like Meg and I distaste Megstiel. So you might be able to imagine the pain and confusion I had when the writers decided to show that scene between Meg and Castiel or even acknowledged the term 'Megstiel'. But one thing about Season GR8 is that I can always pick some more things on second or third watch, and this episode was no exception. What I discovered was that Megstiel in this episode shines its light, or rather, farts its rainbow, on Destiel. To be able to understand that, we need some help from a rare creature: a unicorn.
Unicorn was first used by Meg to refer to Amelia who made Sam "stop" his life of hunting and live a normal life he always wanted. The second unicorn was also used by Meg to refer to Castiel as her unicorn. Meg referred to the Apocalypse time when she, as a demon, was bad. Over the year she had been held captive and tortured by Crowley, all she did was lied. But once Castiel said, "We need your help," she told him the truth. She stopped being the bad demon that she was.
Fast forward to the fight between Dean and Castiel. Castiel was an angel who was being controlled and manipulated by Naomi. Over the course of the fight, Castiel decided to drop everything, the angel blade included. Later, when Dean asked, "What broke the connection?" The answer is simple.
Dean is Castiel's unicorn.
