Unstuffed Cabbage Update.....

Mar 16, 2012 11:19

Though I, at this time should be sleeping...as I have to work tonight...I was awaken to the sound of something falling. I got up to see what it was and finding nothing out of place, decided I would give dinner a stir.
Yes, folks, I forgot to mention when I printed out the recipe for the unstuffed cabbage that it could be done in the crock pot!
Ah the crock pot...such a great invention! It has the ability to cook a fantastic dinner without one having to stand over a hot stove stirring food all day!
I had planned on having the unstuffed cabbage for dinner yesterday, but due to the time we reached home after running all our errands, it would have been a very late dinner. So we opted for something else and I decided I'd put it in the crock pot to cook for the night...and day as well.
It actually only takes 8 hours to cook in the crock, but I didn't start it until about 2:30 in the morning. I have a setting on my crock to keep it warm (but at proper temp) until ready to serve and would normally put it on that setting at this time. But I had a small amount of cabbage left that I decided I'd cut up and add as well as a decision to add a bit of chili powder.
I'll let you know how that works out....
So, yes folks, feel free to dust off that crock pot, toss in all ingredients, stir it, cover it, go to work or to bed and come home or awake to a delicious meal! Tastes great served with biscuits or cornbread as well!
Qh...and before I forget....if using the crock you only need to brown the ground beef! All other ingredients are fine going in without cooking. That's right..just throw it all in at once!
Enjoy!!!
Terry

P.S.Have a wonderful recipe for chili that is only done using the crock pot. Only problem...I have no measurements for the spices as these are just poured into my hand and dumped in with an..oh, that looks good attitude! If I ever figure it out, I'll let you all know.
Happy eating!
