Gmail and You: Labels

Nov 02, 2011 12:51

Gmail has had labels for a long time... and they weren't exactly helpful in the beginning. But things have changed.

You can actually move conversations into a folder now, like most email services have been doing for the past 10 years (*waves to Yahoo*) or if you're a forgetful shit like me, you can just label them and leave them in your inbox. This is what I see when I click on my "Commissions" label:

I use labels a LOT, especially for anything relating to commissions. And I color-code them.

To color a label, click on the white box to the right of it and you'll get a bunch of options.

This is what the list looks like... And the sub-folders/labels list can be collapsed
Commissions
- Completed
- In Progress - Paid
- In Progress - Unpaid
- My Orders - Completed
- My Orders - Paid

If you want to just see what's under a label, click on it and it will search by that label.

I also have labels for PetEdge and VistaPrint, so I can see what I should be expecting and to keep track of order numbers.

hopefully helpful, labels, info, gmail
