Am in need, so watching the first PotC AGAIN.

And the corset shit is really, REALLY getting to me. DAMN IT. THAT IS THE MOST COMFORTABLE CORSET EVER MADE. Wearing that is like wearing a BRA. You don't see women fainting while wearing a bra. STOP THE STUPID. Please.

The ironic thing about that is that if they'd actually bothered to be, y'know, historically accurate, a 1660's to 1690's corset WOULD have been restrictive and squeezy and uncomfortable. But no. It's a bloody LATE 1700's ONE. *flails*

This is why it always surprises me when people give disclaimers in PotC fic for not being historically accurate. FFS, the movies operate on a two-hundred-year-scale depending on what they think looks cool, anything from the early 1600s to the very late 1700s. From ships to guns to costumes to everything (even if the golden age of piracy ended at about 1720). So, meh.

At least they don't have Sparrow going on about his high-tech l33t pistol that's from the 1760s. Elizabeth I can just ignore. And yes, I can still enjoy the movies. A lot. I wouldn't be moaning as much if they'd had a 60-year bracket for their stuff or anything, but two hundred years is just pushing it.
