I didn't want to suggest this but I can see it happening, we can only hope it will be the traditional Father Christmas and not the Coca Cola version.

Ours is still called (literally) The Yule Goat. Although he doesn't have a goat mask any more nor does he go about doing rude hip-wiggling at women. It probably *will* be the Coca-Cola-ified version...

It's a forgotten tradition for most Finns, I wouldn't know about it if I weren't Pagan. Bah.

Apparently the goat figure was even more popular during the harvest fests in the autumn. His other name, "köyripukki" literally means "shagging goat". Apart from Finland's Nature Religions' Association who hold a Samhain masquerade each year, I haven't seen other revivals of the custom. Which is a shame...
