"JAN CHAPPELL ON CAPITOL HILL, 6 APRIL 2006

I just had a call from a very excited Jan Chappell to let me know that she's about to fly off to Washington to take part in a reading of the drama documentary 'Guantanamo: Honor Bound to Defend Freedom by Victoria Brittain and Gillian Slovo which was originally staged at London's Tricycle Theatre, and then transferred to the New Ambassadors in the West End. This is a 90 minute edited and updated version of the production and was recently presented in the Houses of Parliament in February 2006.

Jan and the rest of the cast have been invited to Washington to present 'Guantanamo' in the Rayburn House Office Building, The House of Congress, Capitol Hill, Washington DC. The reading has been sponsored by Congress Representatives Jan Schakowsky and John Conyers along with the Center for Constitutional Rights. You can read more about this at http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/?q=node/9571

I'm sure you'll all join us at Horizon in wishing Jan and the cast well with the presentation and if any of our American readers are able to video anything about this on their local news channels, I'd certainly love a copy. (Yes, my VCR can play NTSC videos!)"

WOO! Yanks, yo, do let us know if it's taped and where one could see it, and which sites would most likely to have footage relationg to that--I'm sure American feminists have a media-watch going on somewhere?:) The documentary is written by women and Jan is a feminist herself. RAWR!
