Oh my God. THESE ARE FANTASTIC. I'm trying to pick a favourite, but it's really difficult... Seeing into another dimension is definitely up there... and buying hardcore gay porn in newsagent and waking up from a symbolic nightmare (nice colour job ;)) and uncomfortably close to a stranger and OMG no. I *did* draw the stranger as half-naked marketplace Ahmad, for some reason my conscious mind can't fathom--it just seemed natural Jaffar would recoil from him or a lookalike:)

If I had more skillz, I'd make a crack animation where a big giant pair of blue balls slowly descends on Jaffar's face and threatens to suffocate him. German Expressionist-stylee, like the giant hand that reaches out to choke Orlac:) And now I just want to doodle more Jaffars--he is a really hilarious thing to caricature. <3 I used to doodle tons of Doctor/Master stick figures in the late 00s to ward off depression, because they gave me something fun and pervy to distract myself with and I wouldn't have to feel emo about my lack of realistic drawing skillz when it was just stick figures. And now I feel like distracting myself with Jaffars because my health isn't up to ficcing right now, so if I'm not careful, you guys will be drowning in them soon

I don't know where the various misspellings in various Internet articles came from; I really don't. I guess it was just the usual assumption that actors always change their names or whatever, and because Veidt is a really rare surname that appears pretty much nowhere else. I have no idea. But it was interesting to see that even in his birth certificate (I'll post both on Tumblr at some point), they'd underlined Conrad as the name with which to address him by. So no pudgy little Hans in lederhosen being told to not molest the ducks in the park when promenading with his mother--damn it

Mmm! I've been meaning to go to the library for a while now actually, as I know some of the archives have a fair few books and rare journal articles on him. The only thing is I do find it all a little infuriating that, for the most part, they're all 'reference only' and so one has to read them then and there. Especially if, like me, you enjoy going over things more than once, and taking your time with various sections that are of particular interest, reading in libraries is never quite as enjoyable. And the amount of times I've been told off for scanning too many pages of things... Whoops! But it'd definitely be interesting to have a look through Lebensbilder, maybe jot down anything worth translating etc

I feel you. I damn near had a heart attack when they zoomed in on that fucker squinting on his ship because THOSE EYES. Swathing his face in that scarlet turban was the WORST because then you could only see those eyes and *sob* It was terrifying and erotic and I'm still a whimpering wreck. The HD is *awful* because you can see all the wibbles in the blue rose scene as well, as if it wasn't unbearable already :( Finally seeing AWF in HD got me pretty bad as well, though, because of all the emotional stuff going on on Joanie's face and Connie's smoothness being even worse, of course.
