I can shoehorn my ships into ANYTHING, you just watch me

Have tried to dodge emos very hard today, hence I have been cooking Persian all day. Made Mirza Ghassemi and Khoresht Fesenjan (the latter for the first time) and I had to basically pound half a pound of walnuts in a mortar by hand (I don't own a food processor) and now I want to die. Unless my arm falls off first.

OTOH, it was delicious, and as I was pounding the wee nutbrains, I was wondering if medieval Persian women were thinking of pounding the brains of their enemies as they performed the same task a hundred years ago. So then my thoughts went to Falcon!Yassamin thinking of pounding the brains of Ahmad and that was very satisfying. And then her totally messing the dish up but Jaffar coming in to rescue it because his parents were excellent cooks and Falcon!Yassamin is characteristically crap at this traditional lady business. (And then I thought that Defy Not The Stars!Yassamin must be better at this kind of thing). And then them just being utterly dorktastic in the kitchen together (it's probable that they'd only be able to use the same kitchen in Falcon anyway since they would've been on totally different sides of the palace in Baghdad) and and and--OH MY GOD. I AM DESCENDING INTO DOMESTIC MUSH AND SOMEONE NEEDS TO SAVE ME.

...and please tell me I'm not the only person who thinks of her ships while cooking.
