Back home, and in the throes of good old con lurgy, as was to be expected. I'm not sure if I'm up for the most detailed of con reoprts, but here goes...

Redemption )

(writing in response to the first half of your con report as I have a short attention span and there is too much I want to respond to)

I'm really sorry you had such a hard time of it healthwise. I am observant enough to notice a walking stick, but frankly the rest of you looked quite fit.

Well, apart from the time when impersonating a drunk person. I have to say I didn't really mind not seeing Krantor's Cat on screen because...

> very very very boobtastic red dress

> someone's canvas bag with a big "DON'T PANIC" painted on it,

Yep. Me too. Printed by me. Sold by the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy fanclub.

> I am so off my tits on the painkillers and the booze that I barely remember anything

You did seem a bit "floaty".

I am sorry I really did not have time to see more Veidt films and your explanation of them. I am downloading A Woman's Face now.

> I don't even get to put Thief of Bagdad

I actually made it to the video room - which was closed, so I went and watched the closing ceremony instead. I hate to say it but I really thought Thief was on the time it said in the programme book Doh. Apparently they printed the draft version.

So another Redemption. And a convention I thoroughly enjoyed. And another weekend of sort of meeting people I sort of met briefly two years earlier and who I guess I will only communicate with through LiveJournal. Pah.

You seem so hyper that I can't believe you don't have that sort of energy all the time.

Anyway, I hope I don't have to wait till Redemption 2017 to see you again, and if you are feeling down then do ask for comforting whenever you like.

Thanks for the bag; it was helpful. I am actually disabled and ill as fuck with about half a dozen overlapping conditions that drain the fuck out of me. It's just that Redemption's literally the only time I get out of the house, so I just mask all the tiredness with makeup and tarty clothes and booze and lots of noise. A lot of the speediness you saw was a direct result of defying the illness and generally being so tired I was almost hallucinating at times even before alcohol entered the picture. So, yeah, a lot of it doesn't show in those situations, but Redemption is different. And like I said, it's one of those few places where I can actually be myself (although even then there's more to me than the loud crazy wench). But I have to say right here that I'm not actually up to talking about it much or anyone asking me if there wasn't this thing or that thing I could do about it because that's tiring as hell, too, so please don't ask/suggest anything of the sort because even typing this is exhausting! (PTSD happens to be one of those conditions I have and I'm nervous about strangers even if I might seem chirpy, so please try and be careful about any comments left.)

The scheduling of the films was royally messed up and while I do genuinely think Steve is a lovely guy, it was a disaster. But at least that website exists, so you can grab whatever you like there. And ToB is always on C4 or ITV anyway...

Thanks for coming to the Connie thing. It was another thing that was scheduled at a crappy time, but I'm glad at least some people showed up because he really is an underappreciated actor and human being and marvellous swishy screen presence besides.

No worries, I won't push for information, or offer advice, or anything like that

Best of luck.
