Rereading this book on Abu Nuwas again and oh god, I just meant to look up detail fodder for the fic but I'm caught up reading it again because he was just so fucking hilarious. (It also includes the poem where he calls Ja'far a piece of shit, BTW.) He was mostly gay, but had a couple of crushes on women when he was younger. And he was a hopeless lech even then.
