Oh my God. I've only slept a couple of patchy, crappy hours and I'm shaky and basically need to be held together with duct tape.

And then I go on Tumblr. And then I find out that the Thor 2 panel at SDCC had a surprise guest. TOM FUCKING HIDDLESTON IN FULL LOKI COSTUME IN CHARACTER DRIVING THE CROWD ABSOLUTELY FUCKING APESHIT. I AM SCREAMING ALONG

I WAS ASLEEP. Poorly asleep. But now I know my sleep was patchy and shitty because there were huge Loki vibes washing over the world and scrambling my brain.

And it really is amazing, that sort of ecstatic thing. I love the thing you reblogged where someone said it was like a bacchanal and meta myth!Loki-wise, because that's exactly it. I've always thought of the better conventions being great examples of a carnival atmosphere where ecstatic stuff and heightened sexual stuff (as in sexual stuff that's remarkably different and/or more intense compared to your everyday life) happens. But this just took it up to eleven. Really, the perv and the cultural/religions nerd in me is fapping all over this--if this isn't an ecstatic pagan sexual cult, then nothing is. Just goes to show people (or nerdy people) naturally gravitate towards that sort of experience. *I* was on the verge of ecstatic tears and had to pause the video sometimes just because I was shrieking and flailing--the atmosphere and Tom's loveliness and his relishing of the role was just so magnificient and infectious. I love that tweet that said Loki was there and Tom was but the vessel.

And I'm pretty sure we were privileged to watch it on video anyway. We didn't have to queue for hours or have to endure huge amounts of People or anything! Or EVEN LEAVE THE HOUSE! *post-coital fag of satisfaction*

Plus, the fact that it's on video means that, decades from now, newly converted Loki fans will get to stumble on it and lose their minds and weep over the fact that it was all before their time. *evil*

Ahahaha, yes; that. But it's also going to be so sweet. You know how I've been flailing happily over 1940s fangirls on Tumblr anyway, so it's always great when crazy fangirliness lives on forever. I still get fucking enormous happy fuzzies when I see n00bs watching OldWho and discovering just how ridiculously gay the Doctor and the Master or Two and Jamie were for each other from the get go.
